Heading to Orillia for a weekend in February. Dropping the wives off at Rama and then want to go for a ride. Where is a good place to park that has direct access to the trail??

I've unloaded at the Walmart. The trail intersection is right at the light west of the Tim Horton's. The snow towards Midland was good 'til Wednesday's rain, it shouldn't take much to get it rideable but I haven't been there this season.

The trail crosses the road to Rama. Where it crosses it runs beside an intersecting road, to the west it takes you to Couch at a public boat launch.

I believe trailers park on the public access road. I recently moved from the other side of town near the Hywayman Inn. I know when conditions of the swamps were bad I trailered up to Performance rec. on hy 11 and found lots of spots to park. This gets you going toward Gravenhurst.

Park at the boat launch in town.. Take Atherley Road (Hwy 12) back from the casino and drive straight through the lights where the lakes meet and go through to Front st. Turn right on Mississauga St., there will be a Mr. Sub on opposite corner follow road to lake..

Drop sleds in parking lot and ride onto the lake follow stake line on the lake to head north.. You will only want to go north from Orillia.. to Sparrow Lake, Gravenhurst and beyond...

If you park in the Port of Orillia lot you'll get a ticket if you have a trailer, trust me, it hapened to me last yr, it's different in the summer for some reason, but it's a $20 ticket in the winter. I'd say the place to park would be Tudhope Park, which is on Hwy 12 in between Couch, and Simcoe, at the lights where Hwy 12 turns into Front st... from there you can jump on Couch, and you'll see the trail markers almost as soon as you get on the lake... if you shoot straight up the lake it will take you towards the Muskokas, or you can headover towards Rama, and up into the Kawartha Lakes area.
Hope this helps

The Sundial from Rama is all the way on the other side of the lake on Hwy 11, which is kind of a long drive around from Casino Rama, but no bad if there is no charge parking.

Ok.. Sorry didn't realize parking at the launch is a problem.. Stupid bylaws that discourage tourist dollars?
