Rode from my house in Bristol today with my duaghters. Considering it is still the first week of riding, conditions were not too bad. some of the plowed fields were a little rough but there was just enough snow to fill in the ruts. Most trails we rode on were packed down nicley by sled traffic...a couple of water holes but nothing big. Temps were hovering just around freezing so there was some softening of the snow. If we dont lose any with this short warm up and get another storm this weekend...i would consider this the best start to the season in this area in a long time  :fluffy: :div20: .

Saw some nice wildlife too...turkeys, deer and hawk circling a field. 40 miles with my daughters was just perfect!

Rain and warm weather killed the trails in this area. :banghead: To good to be true I guess. Hopefully some cold temps and snow in the forecast :help:
one ton fun
yeah i noticed they were shitty. Sat we trailered up to texas falls and the trails were excellent but due to the rain they were all ice so all they really were were slider burners. oh well i got 600 miles os far this season and now my sled is broken so i dont know how much i will ride this year we will have to see.

Went out for a ride today. Did about 65 miles total. Todays snow storm help out the trails a little bit. We got about 5-6 inches. The woods are still pretty bad but the fields provide some decent riding. Just be cuatious of the water holes and plowed fields.

I attempted to head up through Monkton to Hinesburg....the trail thru Monkton is not that great once you get into the woods. When I got to the Monkton General store, noticed the trail heading towards Hinesburg from there was closed. I talk to the store owner, he said they are working with a landowner who wants to meet with the town select board b4 opening his land....he was concerned if he let snowmobiles thru...that he would have to let everyone thru. They should have that ironed our soon, but need more snow for this trail for sure.

Turned around and headed towards Middlebury....trails this way were enjoyable with just enough snow cover, but definetly could use more.

Pray for more snow.... :fluffy:
one ton fun
rode tonight a little trails or ok in fileds but woods and corn fields suck.

Yep....you gotta go slow in the plowed fields or you will rattle your teeth outta your head. I did another 60 miles yesterday.....had to take the good with the bad  Trying to decide if I want to go out riding with the family today or not. The wife may not be to impressed for her first ride...so we just may zip around the field. dunno.gif

Went out for a ride today and was pleasantly surprised they had groomed the trails. This improved the riding. Only did 20 miles though...had to turn back becuase trails were too packed to give adequate cooling to my wife and daughters sled....they were not going fast enough to kick up the snow, oh well. A few inches on top of the groomed trails would be key. Things are looking up....hopefully temps will stay down and we get some more snow. 315 miles so far for the season...not too bad, but had to work for them. Next week going up to Lac St. Jean, QC for some serious mileage  .
one ton fun
did 100 miles on sat. Rode from the house to goshen dam and back. Firetower sucked actuaqlly middlebury sucked in general. ONce you get above fire tower other than the water bars it was good. jus shy of 700 miles so far this year.
