Just got he sled yesterday for my son, and i took it out for a ride. It has some pretty decent power on bottom end but a liittle lacking in the mid range. The rpm was at 8300. everthing on the sled is stock from factory. Any cluthching or gearing ideas?

great sled, needs some heavier clutching.
As a starting point, 10-60 weights, Almond/blue primary
R12 / Silver-blue secondary.

The Island has some snow, does it?
Yep, 60g weights and maybe a 40 tooth bottom gear to quiet the chain whine down would be good money spent. You can use the stock chain after grinding the tensioner a bit. You want
to see 8050 rpm max.
Jet down to 410 mains as well for the Island. Just don't hold it wide open for miles when below -20C

Epi clutch kit and some reeds. Helped my sleds lowend and midrange Tremendously.

Ive got a yellow EPI primary spring with 10-60 weights in the drive clutch and the driven clutch is stock (R11 helix).
Mine engages at about 4200 and pulls pretty hard.
Other than an SLP boost bottle, my motor is stock.

well I ran a top speed of 100mph on about 3000ft of distance and the track was plowed on the lake. the rpm was 8300. not that happy with the sled for top end speed.

because when you rev past 8000 rpm the hp and torque fall off fast on dyno

I would think your tach is reading high. I also have a '00xcsp 600 and with a calibrated tach I'm hitting 8025rpm WOT. I would think if your still having good luck with the performance then your tach is probably 350ish rpm high. Sent mine to Fett Bro's they did a good job, fast turn around... tach was only 25 rpm off at 8000 rpm. I was surprised because I have always heard/read that Polaris tach's are the least accurate of the bunch! Good luck!
