Well I need some clutching advice for a friend just bought a 98 formula. He is about 350 pds with full gear on. Any advice would be great.

I take it you're talking about a 1998 Formula III 700, that's the only 700cc Formula they made that year.
With that rider weight, gear it wayyyy down.
23/43 will give up a few mph on top speed
24/43 probably close to same top speed as with stock gears w/ 350# rider.
25/43 if he wants to sacrifice any top speed (will have higher top speed with him on it).
Can do 24 and 25 top gears with stock chain. For a 23 tooth, you'll need a 72 link.
The stock clutching is actually pretty good. If you want to start playing around with it, get an adjustable pin kit first, throw as much weight as you can at it until the engine really starts to labor. Then get a stiffer primary spring to bring the top speed RPMs where they should be for that sled (7900 rpm).
That will give you most of the performance of most of the clutch "kits" out there.
