All kinds of people were out on the trails this past weekend! This a great way to get the trails clossed. I'm a hunter and if I was out trying to get a last weekend shot at the big old buck and some yahoo came riding on my property and screwed up my hunting ,I would be clossing down the trails through my land. Think before you ride!!! We all want to get out there but the trails are clossed for a reason. Let's not piss off anymore landowners! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

This also wrecks the oportunity for a good base to take place because the snow is getting sled off vs the cat packing it down....

:augen41: Iwould stop loseing sleep over these issues, makes these forums a very boreing place to stop when the issues are the same old ones.Your answer is the serenity prayer.Seems in Vermont you have a political issue with trails being closed. The farmers and land owners have a problem with local gov't and they take the quickest route, close the trail. :frech32:

they are doing the same thing here

Please stay in N.Y. if you have a problem with our farmers and landowners.
yo momma
Some of the people you see on the trails may be VAST actually checking things and making sure the stakes are set properly, and doing trail maintenance.

We usually do this before the season opens via snowmobile and sometimes get dirty looks and people yelling at us until we tell them who we are...............and ALWAYS with landowner permission............... :div20:

The trails in Vermont are closed until Monday December 19. Please stay off the trails until then.

The following was taken from the Vermont State Statutes which I found at the following link.
http://www.leg.state.vt.us/statutes/fullch...=23&Chapter=029

(12) "Closed season" shall be defined as the time from April 16 to the Sunday in December preceding the third Monday. (Added 1983, No. 212 (Adj. Sess.), § 2; amended 1987, No. 76, § 18; 1993, No. 234 (Adj. Sess.), § 1, eff. Nov. 1, 1994; 1995, No. 64 (Adj. Sess.), §§ 1, 2, eff. Jan. 30, 1996; 1997, No. 3, § 1, eff. March 8, 1997; 1999, No. 20, §§ 2, 3; 2001, No. 126 (Adj. Sess.), § 1, eff. June 12, 2002; 2003, No. 116 (Adj. Sess.), §§ 1, 2.)

In Vermont 80% of our trails are owned by private landowners. Many of these landowners are farmers and deserve our utmost repsect. Politics do come into play and we all have to work together with our landowners to ensure that these trails stay open. Anyone who enjoys riding in Vermont should keep this in mind.

Riding on your own land is not the problem, and I do help out with the trails! The number of sleds out on the trails last week end was unbelievable. You can tell by listening if some one is working on the trails or riding! :cn: :cn:
