Hi,
I just bought a 1998 Arctic Cat ZR 500.
I think the stator is bad, but before I send it out ,I would like to make sure.
Can anyone help me on testing a stator? I know you can test the ohms, but I'm not sure what wires to test or what the ohms should be. I have the stator out, and in hand

Thanks
derrek
charge coil (1) step 1 Disconnect the four-wire plug from the CDI unit to the magneto. step 2 connect the red meter lead to the green/red wire in the plug; then connect the black meter lead to the black/red wire in the plug. step 3 Charge coil (1) resistance must be between 36.8 abd 55.2 ohms.

Charge coil (2) step 1 disconnect the four wire plug from the CDI unit to the magneto. step 2 Connect the red meter test lead to the green/red wire in the plug; then connect the black meter lead to the brown/white wire in the plug. step 3 Charge coil (2) resistance must be between 360 and 540 ohms.

Lighting coil step1 Disconnect the main wiring harness from the engine step 2 Connect the two meter leads to each of the yellow leads in the connector from the engine. step 3 Lighting coil resistance must be between 0.12 and 0.18 ohm.

Hope this helps you out

I sent it out to be checked/fixed. The wires were different colors then the ones you listed, so I just sent it out.
