I have 2 yamaha 250's, and a 197? john deere 440 single carb, that won't run right for some reason. All in perfect shape with under 1000 miles.
hillbilly
Just picked up a pantera last week tag on the side of it days it was built 12 month 74 so i am assuming it is a 75 not sure
2600 original miles still has original windshield starts real good but bogs out pretty bad at times stalled on me once had to hold the throttle wide open to get it started again maybe crank seals not sure haven't had time to tear it apart yet. What are they worth? pretty good shape couple cracks in the seat and faded a lil bit but should be able to polish it up.

live to ride ride to live
i just picked up a 7e skidoo elan in pretty good condition for free from my grandpa. it was the first sled that i had ever ridden/driven. it was sitting in his garage for over 10 yrs and hadn't moved. the engine needed quit a bit of work and the carb even more..they were the shittiest carbs ever made. i cant find track adjusters any where. other than that it runs amazing starts first pull no matter the weather. there is no better way to get rid of the early season itch then riding an old sled. you only need an inch

Click to view attachmentI have a '71 Rupp Magnum 440...it was originally a '72 Nitro chassis ,and440 drivetrain, but someone had ripped out all of the bracing, hinges, and hood pieces...they replaced the tank and jammed on a '71 Magnum 400 hood. It was a mess when I bought it, and it's more of a rebuild than a restore, but my Dad had one when I was a kid and I loved that sled, soooo...it's still not totally finished, but it runs and looks okay. Here's a pic from the Vinatge Rally at Lake Belwood last weekend.
PS. My next project is a pair of basket case old Jag 340 free airs that I plan to build in to one not-so-basket case!

My dad still has the first sled that he ever bought - 1973 Mercury Hurricane 644 Mark I w/electric start. My grandpa had the 74 Mark II - 50 hp dual carb vs. 40 hp single carb of '73.

I remember riding thru the woods with my grandpa when I was young. I still remember having to dig it out more than once.

It sat covered in the garage for a few years and we pulled it out and got it running when I was getting into sledding on my own, late 80s. The great thing about working on the engine was parts were available. The motor, ignition system, etc. was the same as the Merc 40hp outboards.

Had some great times working with my dad getting it running again. Ahhh the memories.

Just happened upon a 72 and 73 Cheetah 340 and 440 on the side of the road cheap today, the 73 is in very good shape, even the seat is nice-just needs a little motor work, the 72 is a parts sled only.

Honest to God I didn't plan on buying them but couldn't help myself, now I've got to sneak them home without the wife seeing them.

here is my project sled excel III 340. im not sure what year im guessing mid to late 80s. ive never owned one and got this for free. engine runs pretty well. drive clutch doesnt want to work. belt is in good shape. the front end and cowling looks like it hit a pretty sturdy stump. i figure get it up and running in good order and would be fun for the kids to be taken out on it.

I used to have a 1982 Motoski Ultrasonic. It came from the factory with the 9500 Blizzard engine, but had bigger carbs, and taller gearing. Nice sled! I decided it was time to freshen up the motor one day, and went too far. Overbored with Wiseco pistons, lapped the head 10 thou. cut the rotary valve, port, polish, and blue printed the motor. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!! The thing became real stupid to ride on the trails. Only put up with it for one season, before shelving it and buying a trail freindly Phazer2. My dad had a 440 Kawasaki Invader at the time, Lake Huron was right outside his back door. We used to ride around, and I would pass him easily. One day he said "let me take that thing for a ride" He went out on the lake, and came back right away. He was kind of mad, and said (I will never forget his words) "what the fuck do you need something that fast for?" That was before I went stupid on it! It sat for a couple of years before I finally sold it. DUMB MOVE! I would love to have another one now, but I have never seen one. Here is a pic of one.
