I have noticed that my x-fire's brake will not lock with just two fingers on it. It pinches my fingers before the brake will apply. I have bled this thing twice and changed the fluid. Still soft. Lever moves over an inch before it firms up.
I was in the dealership this weekend checking out the new sno-pro x-fire and noticed it's break is the same way. Then I went over to a fire cat and it's brake hardly moved a quarter inch.
Anyone else come across this? Or am I just being picky?

Did you burnish the brakes on your crossfire, or if you didn't did your dealer during set-up? I know it makes a huge difference between them being done and not done even sitting on the floor.

OK guys, I had the same issues, but after a few "runs" with the brake "on" it took set and now feels much better...
burnish is to "set" or heat up the pads and rotor enough to clean off the production crud and create more grippy surfaces.
I just drove mine for a a few miles and would pump the brake, then hold it lightly while gettin on the gas... got it good and hot... and wella!
can be done on a trackstand as well...

my eb was the same way, i just thought that's how the brake was with the DD until i went to my dealer and felt the brake on a new model. my dealer replaced my master cylinder, then replaced the brake caliper which took care of the problem. brake feels like the zr's of old

becarful setting the breaks in by doing runs with brake on.... too much brake and you'll smoke your belt. Believe me, i know

I havent found they are spongy at all... i must have been lucky i guess?

I've noticed that with the diamond drive it takes more effort. Dealer sayes its normal.

Also the diameter of the rotor is very small.

Mine are very, very spongy. Sometimes i can barely stop.
Should i try this burnishing even after having 1600 miles?
