Polaris introduced EFI in 1990, Cat copied it, Polaris was the first snowmobile, everyone else followed, but that's a good thing, there was over 225 sled manufactures, most are gone, and if we don't get more snow each year, more will fold.

The first Panther had the first Riveted aluminum tunnel, and invented the first slide rail suspension. Of course everyone copied that. If nobody copied that, Skidoo, Yamaha, and Polaris would still be riding around with steel tunnels and boggies.

I thought polaris used subaru style fuel injection the first time when they got sued, or was it mercury? Either way it sucked, if battery got low they run like shit or burned down. It is funny how they jumped right on the aws after the patend for cat run out, they bragged about how great their trailing arm was,and now how great the aws is.

Oh well keeps every thing close, as far as the oil injection pretty much all were coming out with some form of oil injection it was just a matter of time. Cat should try and steal the reverse set up from the others though, so the DD can have reverse, just like the way polaris stole it from skidoo.

Polaris' EFI was by Bosch, and the first Cat's were battery also.

The battery issue doesn't bother me but when they don't run right with out a full charge, thats scary. Unless it was just a buddies that only did that 90 indy xp 500, and 93 rxl 650 both did it.

Bombardier came out with the first sleds...not Polaris.
Skidoo has the REV chassis...say what you want but Cat has NO CHOICE but to copy it
Skidoo's RER is already contracted to Polaris...how long before cat ditches the electric reverse and admits skidoo has a genius design for it
AC's Powervalves look alot like RAVE to me....funny
AC has been bankrupt before and #3 in the market for a loooonnnnngggg time. dont be dissing the other manufacturers because every company has donated its own special products into the market to make the industry better...personally i think the REV has had the biggest affect on the industry and it's future but thats just me.

Im sorry but Polaris came out with the first single person snowmobile, bombi came out with the big station wagon type thing....also cat was the first of the big four to have indipendant suspension, it was a trialing arm setup, and was ditched after a couple of years because it don't work.....

I'm a Cat guy, thats my preferance. Each company has its ups and downs. I don't believe the REV has the biggest effect on the industry. Yamaha does. They were the first with the performance 4-stroke. EPA regs are the influence But in this case it only took one season for everyone to follow. Sure the two strokes are fast and so on. But those days are numbered. The 4 cylinder engine has made a huge stir. The REV changed the seating position. Cat perfected the front A-frame suspension and everyone jumped on that. But it all comes down to the 4 cylinder engine again. It may never go away. Green/yellow/red are fallowing that. Didn't take long.
Overandout......

Those early Snow Travelers were copied from Eliason designs!
we really all owe it to Eliason!
I reviewed my history books, here is a rough summary:
1926 Eliason builds power toboggan, first personal snowmobile.
1954 Polaris forms and makes sleds based on Eliason designs of the time.
1960 Skidoos have molded rubber track, and front engine, rider sits over tunnel.
1964 Yamalube present in motorcycles, appears in sleds in early '70s
1966 The first panther features the first aluminum tunnel, slide rail suspension, and flip top hood.
1973 Brutanza has first production liquid cooled machine.
1979 Arctic Cat sells first real consumer IFS sled, not a race sled.
