ZR 800 EFI, 02. At a steady moderate speed it cuts out but only for a second. On decel it cuts out (almot dies) again only for a brief second. Hit the throttle and it brings it right out and starts pulling. Not really to big of a deal, I just noticed it quite a few times today. But it has never completely died. Today there was a lot of snow dust and snow in the air, maybe just injesting bad air? Anyone? Thanks .............wannaride
out on bail
did it backfire at all?

could be a lil water, or like you said , snow dust

Most likely the throttle switch............replace the two plastic washers inside after filling with clean dielectric grease, common problem.

couple small backfires, nothing harsh. You talking about the throttle switch on the bars?

The one thats build into the flipper..........classic symptoms.

Ill have to look into that. Any tips?

Order / replace the two washers regardless, don't forget to use dielectric grease only. At the same time confirm your cable slack is within spec.
To confirm first.........track the wires down into the column and disconnect, now ride it for a short distance only to see if the problems gone. With the wires disconnected you also loose the kill switch so be carefull of possible throttle hang up.

?? Not familiar with that. Anyway I can check.

It could be the throttle position sensor, pretty sure you need the AC plug in meter to check the old / set up a new one.
I'd either disconnect the safety switch and try it or if the sleds got a few miles on it replace the washers first / adjust the cable if required and see what you end up with.

sled has about 2600 mi. Im definitely going to disconnet as you suggested, and check cable length. Just trying to get all the Ideas i can before Istart trouble shooting. Dealer could probably check my TP sensor then? Thanks..........wannaride

Sled is running great, just that occasional little cut out

Checking a bad TPS can be tricky, sometimes even a bad one can test ok, yes dealer is your only choice.
