My sled idles fine, but has a new different tone from the exhaust now(all through the RPMS). If im at idle and pin the throttle, it will rev up kinda crappy and sit at no higher than about 7grand and just sound like its a flat spot, no power at all. If i gradually accelerate to 6grand its fine, but still dosnt seem normal, and then after 6 if i pin the throttle it revs up to almost 9grand with TONNES of jam. My guess is its running to lean?? I pulled the plugs and on the mag side the electrode was starting to get white, but the finger over the electrode and the rest of the plug was brown as normal. And the PTO side is fine, nice light brown. Any ideas anyone? just trying to think what i can check before i bring it in to have it put on a computer. thanks for any help! I checked all the connections, wires seem all intact. Oil going to both TBI boots, took a peek at the pistons they look fine. any suggestions? or tests i should do? thanks again for any help

pull off the heat shield on the pipe and check for cracks or leakes in the exhaust. check all ur donut seals as well.
SteveR
the exhaust is all sealed up, donuts are all in tact. thanks for the idea tho.

did you check the intake boots. they usually crack after a few years.
SteveR
ill check that again, hard to see but ill yank the airbox off. If it helps at all,
the sled is a 98 Zr 600 EFI, motor is rebuilt with 90miles on it, its ran perfect up utill now. It has v-force reed spacers, and a MBRP can, other than that, and some different weights... the sled is stock. It engages at 4500rpm. If you need to know anything else just ask. thanks again guys for all your ideas.

Check the intake boots / take out the V-Force reeds / spacers.
out on bail
sounds like a little water ingestion...
dry gas

I assume you have already gone through / cleaned / aligned both clutches and confirmed belt deflection??? Many times running issues are confused with basic clutch maint. Don't forget to check the motor mounts for condition / cracks.
SteveR
clutch alignment was done lastnite, and a new belt installed. along with a torque stop. he had to pull the motor out for this. Then today it ran like crap, lol. it does seem to rev alot higher before it shifts from low gear. Why do you say take the reed spacers out? dont do anything and not worth having in there?

In AC twins they don't increase performance and in some cases have been known to cause running issues.
