If anyone knows if the New-Tom Sno Fleas has a website, post the link for me. I'm a member there, but havent been able to attend a meeting due to the long drive away, and havent heard of a webpage for the club. Maybe I can suggest it once I can make a meeting if they dont have one.

I plan on joining either the same club that jpsteder is in, or one up by Hurley as well as the New-Toms.

Good idea oldtimer!

REV,

If you ride in Vilas Co. consider the Sayer Barnstormers as well. A great club and a great job of trail maintenance.

I just downloaded the application form for them today and plan to join there as well. May as well give them a little of my money for a job well done....since I do use their trails extensively as well.

That's why I want to join the St Germain club too. I'm out on Little Lake Germain with my wife's cousin racing almost every damn time I stay at my father in law's. We use the St Germain club's trails almost as much as we do the Sno-Flea's.

I'm up in Hurley a few times every year as well. I wouldnt be as active in any clubs up there as I hope to be with New-Tom, but I use the trails alot up there too, and they deserve more than the buck I throw in the map box whenever I see it.

Is this "slap-nuts" ? If not, my bad. He comes to NH now and again too.
Enjoy your stay. What brings you? You should drive to Mt. Washington and take a sno-coach to the top, or maybe ride the cog ski train... :beerchug:

I am hopefully going to get some more info sent to me soon explaining the club and how it works. I would love to get a website running for them if possible. I will leave them be until spring (they're probably busy as hell with grooming and otgher stuff right now) and then approach them about a website and contact info.

Hey Rev,
Do you like the Sno-fleas trails? Have you ever been on one that has been groomed? their signage is horrible in most peoples perspective. They are usually referred to as "the grumpy old man club" around here.
They do nothng for the community that I have ever seen or heard of. They are very rude to anyone outside of their little circle, Curly is ok, Bit even the mention of the last name of Kairis, brings wrinkles to peoples foreheads, and raises blood pressures.

May I suggest the "cross-country cruisers"? "Forest riders"? Northern Hornshoe?

The president of the cruisers is Al andreotti.

I'll try posting their site, but it isn't much of a site. The cruisers donate heavily to the special olympics Org. in this area, the cruiser club is good for everyone in the community,

I am suggesting the cruisers since it is close to lake tom, but a far superior club in all aspects of snowmobiling and community service.

Although here is a friendly little jab for you, from our somewhat differing opinions in the past. Maybe you would fit in perfect with the fleas!! LOL

Sno-Fleas do a good job for the most part. Whatever club borders them to the south on highway 47 usually has worse trails in my experiences. I have rode excellent and freshly groomed Sno-Fleas trails in the mid-afternoon on a Saturday, and have also rode horrible and torn-up trails there on a Wednesday morning, it just depends on how much they get the groomers going.

Seeing that my father in law's cabin is right off of the Sno-Flea's trails, I feel almost obligated to give them my membership and help in getting the trails running for them. I also hope I can start a "new wave" of younger guys to help bring a different feel to the club overall. I'm probably being very optimistic about that part, but am willing to try it. My father in law plans on retiring up there when my youngest sister in law graduates from college (about 10 years.) All his brothers have cabins on the same road as well, and they plan on retiring up there as well. All are big snowmobilers. I would like to see my father in law, his brothers, myself, and all my cousins in law start joining the Sno-Fleas and possibly turn it into one of the more respected and known clubs in the Northwoods.

Lets hear it for the Florence County Snowmobile Club. The Blue Ox Trails have approx 150 miles of wonderful trails. They are so smooth we even let Arctic Cats ride them :smilielol: . Seriously, some of the best riding without the traffic. Honest and daily updated trail reports at www.florencecountysnowmobileclub.com

The Florence County Snowmobile Club, Blue Ox Trails are some of the best in the area. I also want to say THANK YOU to the person for the detailed, current, and most honest trail report out there.

Trailmates do a great job up there. Only recently have i started riding in the Shantytown area where my father owns land. In fact the shantytown snowmobile club trails go through our land. But riding in central wisconsin is some of the best trails i have seen in wisconsin.

What club does the Mercer/Winchester Area? I usually stay in Mercer and other then the railroad grade (which who rides it anyways) they do a damn good job and I would like to throw some money there way.

Castle Rock River Runners.....

www.castlerockriverrunners.com

Great groomed trails very wide when the area permits. I dont have a bunch of details but I know our groomers have sides that can hydraulicly go up and down. When thet get into the woods they fold them up obviously because of the narrower passage. But when ya hit the bean fields is as wide as the interstate.

I just joined last year, didnt make any meetings as of late. No snow so nothing I really think about. Im not a very active member but am willing to help out when I can.

here is a link to the map of the area and marked trails... thought may be helpfull if we ever get any snow. Our club manages over 95 miles.

Something for Clubs to think about-

Snowmobile club has response team

Q. Does the Aberdeen Driftbusters Snowmobile Club have an emergency response team to help in bad weather?

A. It does. The club has divided Aberdeen into four quadrants and has a response team for each quadrant.

Club member Brent Fisher said the teams are activated when no travel is advised in Aberdeen.

Team members then report to the Aberdeen Police Department and are dispatched as needed.

Fisher said in his 15 or 20 years of club membership, the response teams have only been activated once.

Sounds like a great idea for clubs to have in place for emergencies!
