No trails in Laporte...Could never figure that out?? and you guys always get tons of snow...

So where do you guys ride? ....secret trails and invitation only?

Just wondering....

Every year there is an unmarked trail that developes as soon as the decent snow arrives...it varies little from year to year. It ranges from Westville to Union Mills to Saugany Lk to Hudson Lake and also heads towards South Bend. Last year in Westville they were unloading right behind mcdonalds, also there is incoming trails from the west that I assume are some of the guys from Valpo area.

I haven't totally figured out how to hook up to the south end of Buffalo Run yet without a fair amount of road riding...it's a little tricky on the back side of Bendix woods.

There's a lot of farmland in Laporte and some of the bigger farms the owners are snowmobilers and with a little bit of common sense and respect the other farmers don't seem to hassle anyone. If they don't want you riding on certain winter planted crops they usually have it marked etc. Since I have been riding in Laporte I have been hassled only 1 time and later on that turned out to be crap as one of my buddies that owns a lot of farmland assued me that where we were stopped was his property and that dude was just being a dick. Also the main power lines from westville area towards new carlisle also form a hwy with convenient off shoots to the fuel/food stops etc. We naturally have our play areas that are away from residential sections etc., I really like it a lot because of the convenience of riding right out the backyard, it's not hard to put on a quick 60 miles. From the look of it though if we don't start getting some LES I'll probably be trailering.

But still isn't as nice as having the B Run across the street like Tony

I live in the valpo area and still havent figured out how to get to the westville/laporte area (short of riding straight down rte. 6). if anyone local knows how, i would love to hook-up and make that ride some time.

same here. From crown point. It is always fun to ride down rt 2 from westville to laporte there is some great ditch riding also back in the day we use to ride along rt 49 from chesterton to valpo

Anyone ever ride the Hesston area?

Where are you coming from in Valpo? If you are south of 49 and 6 you need to work east to 500 East then run the power lines over into Westville. I work under the powerlines at 400 East in Jackson Township and can definately say you would need to get on them at 500 East.

Any good path from 49 around Kouts/ Malden?

I would think you could go from Malden up to Jackson Twp. via field hopping. You would probably want to cross Rt. 30 somewhere like 450 east or a little farther east. You just need to catch the power lines up by Rt 6 at 500 east or farther east or maybe you could follow Rt 2 up to Westville. Let us know if you make it.

When you thinking about going? I'm still de-summering my machine but I should have her done by tonight. I think the AV Gas did good.

i've ridden from portage and had lunch at the koffe kup. good riding. would like to make it out towards westville....don't know the way yet.

Anybody riding on Sunday? We're looking to head out to Westville towards LaPorte or SW Mich if not enough snow left in LaPorte.
