Well, I am not sure how many have done business with DZ, but this is a sad sad day for some of us. I have been going there since I was knee high to a grasshopper with my dad. It was nice to go to a place and talk with people you could trust. People who would genuinely help a person. Last Saturday was their last day for business, and the sign is already down. From what I hear, Honda East bought them out.
It sounds like Rob, and two of the techs will be doing something on their own. But not until the first of the year. This is rumor at this time. I will update as soon as I find out anything.
To the guys at DZ, Thank You, for the many years of great sales and service!

Does this mean Honda East will be taking on the Arctic Cat and Ski-doo line along with the current Yamaha and Polaris line? A big 4 dealer in Maumee, OH? dunno.gif

Yep, they will now sell all 4 brands. Not real sure how long it will take for them to be up and running with the Ski-Doo and Artic Cat stuff.

Rumor mill says Ron and the owner of Honda East had a Hand shake deal to not carry the same brands. Artic Cat wanted DZ to move their showroom out to the main road (rt 51) and Ron didn't want to move, so he sold out to Honda East. DZ's Sales and Service were second to none. This is all rumors though, not sure if its Cats fault at all. Ron could have just been wanting to sell out too. dunno.gif

I got a card in the Mail.I have not spoken with Ron since last year.He sponsered my Drag Sleds for years,He is stand up guy!I never did like the way things were safter He started selling Artichokes!

I guess Rob will have something going by the first of the new year. Parts only, no new sleds, I am sure he will deal with some used though. OEM parts too from what I hear. Rumor has it that Sam, and Dan will be wrenching still. Dan part time I hear. Both are very good mechanics. Its going to be at the old furniture place on Rt. 51, the yellow building on the North side of the road, kinda near where DZ was.

I will post more information as I get it. I will try and stop in and get a phone # for the new place when they open. These are the guys that helped make DZ what it was, so it should work out for them. Sure gonna miss dealing with Ron though.

I bought a new doo from DZ and so far I haven't heard from Honda East on taking care of me since they took over the doo franchise from DZ.

You would think they could have something typed up and sent out w/in a week of DZ closing their doors. Same old Honda East mentality, waiting for them to prove me wrong.
Erie_One
It will most likely be you contacting them.
Last I heard Ron was going up to train their techs on the doos and cats. I was just there thursday to pick up another quad. I like their sales people. Scott Johnson is who I deal with up there. Good guy, fair prices.
Lets hope their service steps up to the plate. I would like to see their parts department carry more stock too. I was told they are adding on. Time will tell.

Who would want a cat??? frech11.gif stirthepot.gif

Just kiddin. Which place you talkin bout willis? DZ, Honda East, or Robs new place?

Honda East had all kinds of sleds sitting in the showroom. Place was boomin with people too. Kinda nice to have all four brands in one place. I'm just gonna miss the personal service like DZ had. Not saying Honda East is bad or anything, just too big to give you the same one on one, walk back in and talk to the tech type environment I liked.

I was at Honda East. It is about 7 minutes from my house. I purchased my 1994 Triton Elite from them new in 1994. Other than that I have been in there a few times.

If you like personal service try Bob's Arctic Cat - U.S. 23 Exit 22 - turn left - turn left go about 2-3 miles and you will see it on the left. :beerchug:

But Erie One - you would have to switch to Cat! No Ski-dogs there! :div20:

OK, I talked to Rob and he will be open for business on the January 2nd 2006. Sam is wrenching on the sleds, and they will have OEM parts. Below is their phone number and address. These are the guys that helped make The DZ BARN a success.

Man, this thread turned out to be better than expected! I remember going to the DZ so long ago I don't even remember when, early 90s sometime. I had mostly yams and never had a need to go there, went with a Cat riding buddy. Nice homey feeling at the Barn!

As for Honda East, I've been in there a lot never bought as much as a sticker. I fell for that advertising crap the big high volume dealers do years ago with an extremely pissed off ending to it, after that I swore off of anything but mom and pop dealers Honda East aint nuttin special, same as all the big dalers, lots of people who don't talk to you. My dependable old little dealer has just as good pricing as those 4-5 times larger.
I went into Honda East last year looking for a Roadstar, no one even talked to me till I was leaving, I said I was looking for a Roadstar, he pointed at them and walked away. Next day I went back to my little dealer and paid cash for a brand new Roadstar. Just cause you have a toolbox full of tools, it doesn't make you a mechanic, same can be said for the big dealers where the salesman are making poverty scale wages, the mechanics are all under 25 making $10 an hour while you get charged $55 for shop rate, and interest rates on financing border the insane and hard closers are promising the moon to get your sale.

Small Dealers ROCK! ylsuper.gif

Glad to see a underdog still kicking!!!

Just wanted to give this a bump. These guys are kicking ass at the new location, its a little small, but the service and there parts sales make up for it. They have been able to get any quad parts I have needed next day as well, cheaper than anywhere else around.
mycat8urskidoo
was up at Dz just yesterday, unfortunately i've made far too many trips up there this year, but they seem like they're doing good, even got a few sleds for sale
SLeDHeaDDude800
I sold my 02 MXZ 800 threw DZ Motorsports I even slipped Rob a little extra cash for letting me
keep a small display of the SLeD I had advertised! Rob and Sam are one of the best around these parts!
You ain't gonna find anything else or better! -Dave
