Would a 2002 pro x 440 make a good trail sled? With stuff like the heads, tank, and oil injection done, what else would I need to do? CDI? If there are any bugs with this sled, please let me know. Sorry for asking so many questions. Im at the point where i just want to find the right sled for the right price and ride...tired of looking! Thanks a lot

It would make a great trail sled with all aformentioned, no need to redo the cdi though. It will have a stiff ride though and work well in the rough stuff/jumping and such. Can set all the springs to the softest position and clickers at 1 or 2 and try it out. If it is still too stiff then you'll need to revalve them to make them ride softer. But you will enjoy it. Would also need to reclutch and regear it for trail speeds.

No clickers on an 02. I would suggest re-valving if it is not going to be jumped agressively.

But yeah, they can make great trail sleds. Oil injection from the prox600 should be a direct bolt-on.

One of the things you might not like if you are a "true" trail rider is that basically you need to stand up to aggressively ride it. You could always change it. Freakin sweet sled though. Can other people tell us about the milage you've got out of the 440 motor? My 00 440 was a time bomb...Tolarances were way too tight.

Yea, like gotta b modded said about the "timebomb" issue, was this 02 motor too finicky to be trail ridden? and im gonna do half trail riding and half jumping. thanks for the posts so far!

Tempaflow is a must , the 440 pipe must be hot for this sled to run right. the jetting must be changed for every 10* of temp change . Never let it idle any lower then 2500 RPM it will load up any you will need to change the plugs very often ! Oh ya dont expect your buddies to wait for you when your crossing a lake !

You guys are so scared :P The jets are easy to change, and if you don't jet it super-fat (350's) it will not get all doggy at warmer temps.

It will load up at idle, the 2500rpm idle and putting in 27.5 or 30 pilot air jets will help also.

FInally, I put on 1500 miles last year on my 02 running 40:1 interceptor and I never had a single issue. Motor had 150psi compression when I sold it, so the rings and cylinder were obviously still in great shape.

Which 440 are you talking about? The hair dryer, or the l/c?
IAPro-X
Nevermind.... I see that oil injection has been added and the head kit has been installed. L/C. Engine made a lot of power, hell of a ditch banger.

You'd be much happier with a 600 if you just want to gas and go. The 440 requires more wrench time.
