There was a 01 600 ProX at the hotel we stayed at this weekend. It is clearly an edge chassis. So was the 02 an edge chassis too? Mine is a late release 02 and is a ProX chassis. Did they make both in 02? Just currious.RB

The '01 Pro-X was a limited build sled and was in the Pro-X chassis. The '02 limited build was in the Pro-X chassis as well. There are differences between the edge and Pro-X chassis, can easily tell the 2 apart. The guy probably had an edge with Pro-X colors.

It had edge trailing arms unlike the ones on my sled. They even said edge on them. ?????????????????? RB

He just had an edge chassis with Pro-X skin on/aka graphics. And they made both the edge and Pro-X chassis in '01 and '02, Pro-X was limited builds. In '03-'04 the Pro-X was full production. Edge chassis full production from '01-'06 in some models.

I was talking to the owner of the sled. I asked him what year it was. He said 01. I asked him if it was an edge or ProX chassis. He said he didnt know but had bought it new in 01. I have seen these sleds before,It has a BIG yellow X on the side and says pro in front of it but it looks nothing like my sled. It looked like an edge chassis to me and thats what struck my interest in it. My thinking was it was a snow check only deal but thats a total guess.?????????????????????????? RB

It was probably an EDGE X, not a Pro-X.

If so, it was an EDGE X. An EDGE X is very similar to an XC SP, but it has different decals and it has different fishbones on it.

There was Pro X 440 & Pro X 600 in 01, I dont know all the differences but the most noticable difference to the 02-04 are the trailing arms and link arms.. I am sure they had Ryde FX clickers but the rest looks pretty much Edge stuff..

the Pro-x 440 was the first itteration of the edge chassis. it came out in '99. the 440 has been the test mule of upcoming chassis designs for some time. in '01 the Pro-x 600 was still in the '00 440 chassis, that is remarkable like the classic Edge chassis. in '02 the 600 got the chassis from '01 440 and the 440 got the same chassis that is used on '03 and '04 Pro-x 6,7,800's.

to answer your question, from a glance the '01 600 Pro-x looks remarkbly like the Edge chassis from '02-'05. the radius rod rake and rear skid were a little different on the Pro-x though.

I think it looked like an edge to you because of the box tube tailing arms where the 2002 up has the triangle shape trailing arms. I have one and it is easy to tell the difference. wide running boards, remote clickers on hte front. 1 switch for hand and thumb. Those are the quick things I can think of without opening the hood.

jb is correct... even the latest pro-x has "Edge IFS" decals on the t-arms... the 01 prox had t-arms that looked very similar to the edge chassis, but, it is indeed a different sled...

I vividly remember the 01 ProX. I had some warranty work done on my brand new 00 XC600 and ProX was sitting there in the shop. It looked so sweet. Man was I pissed no one said anything about when I bought my sled. But, in the long run I think I ended up fine, really liked that GenII.

I had an 01 PROX 440 just like that one and it was a tank compared to the 02 but man was it rugged and the motor was unstoppable. Plus you could race it one day on 110 octane and trail ride it the next on 92 octane with no modifications!!!!!

The 2001 PRO-X 440, 600 and XCF SP Edge have the chrome moly tubular brace between the raised up IFS shock towers. To me this is one of the benchmarks of the PRO-X chassis.

So why was it a tank? I don't have the 440 motor in it. Newer 700VES under the hood. How was your suspension set-up? I don't have enough snow to ride and start playing with the suspension so I sit on here all the time and think up questions. I need some snow
