I am graduating in May and considering accepting a job offer with American Infrastructure in the Worcester, PA area. I'd appreciate it if someone familiar with the area could answer a couple questions for me.

1) How far North would I have to travel for regular riding in the winter?
2) Can you give me some idea what the cost of living is? How much is rent? How much does an acre of farmland sell for? How much does an average house cost in rural areas?
3) Has anyone had any experience working with American Infrastructure or Allan A. Myers? What is their local reputation as a contractor and employer?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

hello, i'm a realtor in eastern pa. i can help you with a couple questions..... the average price for an acre of land in the philadelphia suberbs is about 150-180k....more and less in certain places... cost of living is def. on the higher side...school taxes, gas, etc run higher due to the income in the area... again im speaking for the philadelphia suberbs...

as far as riding.... it depends what kind you want to do. there is all sorts of terraine with in a 2 hour radious. winters are different ever year....

hope this helps a little.

Your best bet for a 1-day weekend ride is to shoot up the NE extension and go to a state forest. Check out the link:

I recommend Thornhurst. Dixon-Miller sucks, as does Edgemere, because it is a year-round shared trail with ATVs.

Besides state forest trails, there are state park trails. Check out this link:

Hickory Run has a nice loop, although it becomes very crowded on weekends (bumps). Adjacent to Hickory Run is Lehigh Gorge, which is a single trail down the Lehigh Gorge 15mi long. Very nice and scenic. Not really crowded in my experience.

On a weekend, don't limit yourself to one trail. Go to one for a few hours, then load 'em up and drive a few minutes to the next. Bring gas. Check the trail conditions on the websites. They are reliable most of the time. If you have doubts, call the ranger station.

Promised land is ok. Edgmere is pretty good except for the 7 miles shared with ATV. Those are the only two places groomed in that area. Thornhurst is a little small. Northeast PA Snow Trails is descent for the northeast. 215 miles. Go to central and north central pa. Much better than the northeast.

I am from NW PA (as far north and west as you can go!) ... trails are
actually better in NY from my experience (Lake Chataqua area)

I know that's a bit of haul.

I've also heard the allegheny forest has good trails. Haven't been there on the sled yet ... had a trail pass for the quad a couple years back for the summer.

We did the ANF a few years ago and didn't care for it. If they can get the gas companies to quit plowing the roads bare it would improve 100%.
