Trail maps are normally found at any store or business that sells TMA's. There is a list on VAST's website of registration agents who in most cases will also have maps when they are available.

I am not sure where you are located but in the Mad River Valley they are sold at Kenyon's Farm Store in Waitsfield and the Duxbury Store in Duxbury.

The 2006 maps should be available within the next week or two. VAST has been busy the last couple of years plotting the entire Vermont state trail network with GPS and this data was used in the plotting of this years map. From what I understand the GPS project was completed just over a month ago and the maps were then sent to the printer. This years maps are supposed to be the most accurate ever. It should be well worth the wait.

Does anyone know whether the GPS coordinates will be on the map itself? Having them at the intersections would be nice.

I read in VASTnews that they were trying to come up with a way to release the coordiantes to the public so one would assume  that there aren't any on the map.

I am hoping they will let you download them by town or county or something.

They are not on the map. A cool thing clubs are doing now at trail/road intersections is put a sign with the road name on the stop sign. They work pretty good. I think the intersections change too often to put the coordinates on the maps.

If there using GPS trail info to create the maps now, it would be nice to be able to download the info. Tracks, routes, or just way points would be nice. Then I could use this info on my topo software and print out my own maps (which would show brooks, roads, moutains with topography). Or sell a version that has the info my topo maps have. I would rather pay money for the GPS info instead of the map.

Like I posted above... VAST News is trying to find a way to easly distribute the GPS points... I wouldn't be suprised if we can't download them by region this year...
