Red Rooster
Been having a look at this CC race they are planning for March. Firstly, are there no roads to Lab City from the NFLD side? Not that it makes much difference to me, same distance either way. Do you guys up there know what kind of a race this is going to be? Trails, roads, lakes? Is it going to be 3 or 4 feet or fresh powder and navigating by GPS? Or will it be a laid out and marked route that has already been travelled.

I don't thing a Harricana style race where you have to travel with loads of gear interests me. But if it's a packed trail where you can travel light it could be very interesting.

Anyone have any info?

Cain’s Quest- Endurance Race

Cain’s Quest will take participants on an incredible journey through the Labrador wilderness. The race will entail an approximate 1200 km trek on ungroomed trails where teams of two riders and their snowmachines race to the finish. Riders will travel rough terrain, brave sub-zero temperatures and test man and machine against the elements for a chance at the prize purse and of course bragging rights.

The excitement begins Friday, March 17th with the anticipated racer’s parade and opening ceremony. Don’t miss the thrill of being at the start line 9 am Saturday, March 18th- Tanya Lake, Labrador City.

The race will begin and end in Labrador City. On March 18th, 2006 at 9am, teams will depart Labrador City and make their way through Miron River, Menihek Lake to Wishart Lake. From there, teams will travel to Churchill Falls, Orma Lake then back to the finish line by way of Churchill Falls, Ranger Lake and Miron River. Drivers will be required to sign-in at mandatory checkpoints and have rest periods at mandatory layovers. The entire race is anticipated to last 3-4 days. Participants will be breaking trails, traveling in unpredictable weather and pushing their snowmobiles and bodies to the limits. It will be a thrilling adventure for anyone who is ready to endure the challenge.

Winners of the race will receive a scheduled payout of an estimated $20,000 prize purse. The first place winner will receive 50% of the total purse. The percentage allocation of the remaining 50% and number of placements awarded will be determined by the number of entrants into the race.

On Friday March 24th, participants will celebrate with a closing banquet and awards ceremony. Labrador is the prime location to host an annual snowmobile race, with ideal snowmobiling conditions, breathtaking scenery, and warm Labrador hospitality! But that’s not all...it is the vision of Cain’s Quest to deliver an intensified 3000 km race in March 2007 with an even more valuable prize purse to strive for. It will be THE event for Labrador and for anyone who is ready to go the distance.
