Well went out tonight to fire up the ole' sled after it has been sitting all summer. When I put it away in the spring, i ran stabil in the gas, and i fogged the motor. Now, went out to start it, pulled and pulled first with the choke on, and nothing. Put a little gas in the cylinders, pulled with the choke nothing. Pulled without the choke and got it to backfire twice. I am wondering what steps i should do to get it running again. Thanks guys

the only thing i have ever done is fog it...if you put gas in the cylinders and it didnt fire you prolly flooded it just keep pulling till you cant pull anymore.....thats what i had to do the first start ever winter since i bought it

If its real bad drain the case but probablly not nessecary, Try new plugs and heatthem up a bit, If its popping your almost there. Make sure no nests in the airbox or pipe. The airbox makes a good mouse trap , if the go down the horns(if you even have) they cant get back up. My experiance is if it pops. choke it and your a few more pulls away. Im sure your jets are fine w/ stabil in the tank. oh ya make sure your cable didn't stretch and release the throttle safety.

Drain the carbs. Plug the plugs and blow out the cylinders with compressed air. Add some fresh gas to the tank if the tank isn't full. Take some brake cleaner wash off the ends of the plugs then blow them off with air and reinstall. Hold your hand over the gas tank opening and blow some air into the tank while trying to seal it as best you can. You're doing this to fill the float bowls without having to pull your ass off. Then spray some brake cleaner into the mouth of each carb. Put the choke on, and pull it should fire in 1 to 2 pulls. If it fires and runs for a second then dies, spray a touch more brake cleaner into the carbs and try gain. The fogging oil and the gas stabilizer doesn't like to light. Some of you may cringe at the though of using brake cleaner in this manner but it works perfectly fine without any problems. The key is to not go crazy with how much you use. Better to spray some in and see if it fires then spray some more in if needed. Carb cleaner also works well for this but I have found brae cleaner to be better. Do not use ether. It way more violent then brake cleaner.

Same problem with my pro x. I got it running for a little, but messing with the choke to get it to idle better caused it to die, and I pulled my ass off again. Maybe try it again today. I did chase some mice out earlier this summer, not sure if they moved back in or not.

Try a new set of plugs, cleaning the carbs is a good idea too.

tried new set of plugs, drained the case, full of gas, cleaned the carbs, kept pullin, drained the case, backfires, doesnt even stumble like its running. so now we are pulling without the choke, new plugs in, case empty. pissin me off, never again will i ever fog my engine before i put it away.

something else is wrong. are you sure the pilots are clean? they are so tiny any little bit of dirt or varnish will clog them. i fogged mine and drained the carbs. even with empty bowls, i just cracked the choke and it started with 5 pulls. not fogging is a real bad idea!

Id bet your jets are plugged. Even if you used Sta-bil, the fuel will gum up your jets if you leave it sit all summer.
You NEED to fog your motor to prevent corrosion from the moisture in the air.
Heres what I do:
In the spring I drain all the gas out of my tank and run the sled untill it is completely out of fuel. Then I take out the spark plugs and fog the motor.
In the Fall, I put 5 gallons of gas in the tank and with the spark plugs only FINGER TIGHT I pull the engine over about 10 times. Having the plugs only finger tight makes it easier to pull over. Pull the engine over about 10 times draws the fuel though the lines and into the engine.
Then, I tighten the plugs, and it usually fires up in about 5 pulls.
Thats the way Ive always done it. My father taught me to do it that way and he's done it that way since the late '60s and it works every time.
Clean out your jets and Id bet your sled fires right up.

I don't know if you are in a warm shop or not but year old gas has a hard time burning in the cold.
If you keep getting gas in the crank (like a lot) it may be a pump diaphram.
Turn the gas off and try to start it and then when it does start turn the gas back on. This will prevent you from reflooding a flooded engine.
I assume you checked for spark?
Good luck!!

Usally the gas evaporates out of the fuel lines & bowls if you didn't empty them. Alot of time you can get the fogging oil to fire up on those first few pulls for 1-2 seconds & that's it . Here's the trick for the first start of the season or if you run out of gas. Put gas in the tank. Then blow in the tank to pressurize it to force fuel through the line & into the carbs. Then it will fire right up with a couple of pulls.
