Decided to do some more mods to my 04 prox2 800. Got a deal on a perf ed package from SLP with Cylinders, heads and all. Also adding twin egt gauges to keep an eye on things. Adding tempa flow and thinking about the boondocker NOS kit so I can hang with some triple triples.
Thinking about doing the rolled chaincase kit for more top end and using a 1.5 x 14" hillcross/snowcross track from camoplast with 192 studs.
I am also thinking of going 136" using the slp extention kit.
My goal, is to have the badest pro-x8 I can, my question is:
What will be the trade off of these mods? I love the way this chassis handles the bumps and always seems to rebound straight up, I don't want to lose that.
Will the edge rolled chaincase kit work on a pro-x?
If you had an unlimited budget what would you do to this sled?
I am an aggressive trail rider with an extensive motorcross background and love this sled for that, but i also have a need for speed.....and lets face it this sled is slow on top end and off the trail. I want the best of both worlds and want to see if I can achieve it with this very sled.
Let me here your suggestions, I would like to have it done by X-mas!

open check book ! well now .... 1st I would call Carls pull the motor out and get a 900 cc big bore with porting and twin pipes. this or a union bay. The if your a topend guy I wouldnt get any track with more then 1.25" lugs it kills topend! the ripsaw track seams to be about the best all around track , some are better in deep snow but the ripsaw is still good there to. Drop and roll , I wouldnt for two reasons. one it puts the chaincase right where its going to get hit so if your a ditchbanger thats not a good thing! and the steep and deep guys do it to help with track angle in the front / more clearance at the bulkhead. will it help with top end honestly I dont know ! The 800 in stock trim is a pig but with tuning and a few $$$ you can get big improvements. see

i also owuldn't D&R the p-x... call a shop and ask how much of a pain that is... and like mark says, smaller tracks = more top speed... if you want speed you want a .75 track, 1" max... also lose the 136 for topend... suck down your limiter strap, poke extra holes in them to get them down further to help topend...
the other thing, if you were looking for a topend sled you should stick with a gen2 polaris, those things are animals... the pro-x is just NOT a top end screamer...
other side is that some guys have managed to drop an xcr8 motor in them, call HTG see if they did it yet...

the hillcross hybrid track is sweet for most riding, but the lug is a little big for just running topend MPH. if you want and all around and out of the hole set-up, then go with the hillcross track. since you like motocross, as i, you will hate the extension kit. i stretched mine to 136" last year, works alright in the mountains but sucks in the bumps. it makes it to much of a grandpa point and shoot sled. also for top end speed, dump the TEAM secondary and get a button clutch or Erlandson Trackmaster. forget the drop and roll kit, unless you want to make a deep snow mountain sled. the temp-a-flow is good, NOS you're on your own. remember it's a twin, it will never run with a prepped triple-triple on top end, but you can take them out of the hole. with porting, pipes, gutted airbox, reeds, good jetting, CDI re-program, gears, clutching, new secondary and traction it will be a very respectable sled that is fun to ride.

xc-mark: I already did those mods last year when the sled was new, I used to have a sub to that web site....good stuff.
So you guys have talked me out of the 136" kit and rolled chain case, and the big bore kit is out because I only want to run pump gas.
Would love to lose the secondary, but I can not go with out the PERC!
The slp ported cyl, cheater head, air box, flo rites, perf ed pipe, v-force, egt gauges and tempa flo are going on this week. According to the dyno site this set up is good for almost 170 hp.
Does anyone know if the head that I got with the performance ed SLP kit is the same head that I would use with SLP Twins? According to SLP the single pipe is good for 6 hp but the twins are good for 24 hp??? If I could get 180 hp on pump gas I would be a happy camper.

i am pretty sure the complete SLP kit only dyno's out at 165 hp. but it makes bette power at low and mid rpm which is great for trail riding. currently i am testing different helixes for the TEAM secondary to try and make this thing work. i noticed Polaris is putting a 58* helix on the RMK's, so maybe a shallow helix and softer spring is the way to go. hope to have an answer in a few weeks.

getting more then 165 ~170 hp out of a stock bore / 92 octain fueled twin is a dream ! you need more CC and you will not see much more HP but the TQ will be MUCH higher . Want big power get a big bore kit for a XCR triple ! Its not a big deal to get 200 hp out of a warmed up triple. you could do a turbo kit also. Better yet if you want something fast by a 2 year old Suzuki GSXR 1300 R , 190 mph 2 wheeled street fighter! zero to 140 mph in 10 seconds every time!

How bout following me on a xcr triple through the whoops? Or maybe over a 60 ft table top?
I know there are other choices for a flat out fast sled, the point here is making this sled as fast as it can be, but not to loose its identity. I like this sled, I want to LOVE this sled. Why don't you read the whole thread before making stupid ass suggestions? :drunk: I am kidding of course

I've got an 03 800 Vertical Escape 144 with 800 tripple,495 lbs dry weight. The weight difference from 800 twin to tripple is negligible less than half a tank of gas.
No production sled even comes close, anywhere any time. :banana:
I know Pro 5 has built tripple pipes for pro x.

Yup , the biggest mod that needs to be done is removeing a small amount of the bulkhead near the pull start cover.. Not sure what would have to be done on a race 440 (non consumer model ) or a X2 or XR where the steering shaft is differnt ?

won't putting a triple cyl engine in a pro x be completely changing the sleds identity, which is light weight, torque-monster twin?
you'll add 40 pounds by going to a triple, completely changing the power band, handling characteristics and "changing the identity of the sled"
It'd be like giving paris hilton some sort of marketable skill. It completely changes her identity of being a useless cum dumpster. see what I'm saying?
