A good friend of mine called and said I was more than welcome to crash at his place in Fargo if I was looking for some snow. Is there enough there to make it worth the 250 mile trip? Also, if there is snow, are the trails in the surrounding area worth my time? Thinking about a possible quick trip this coming weekend. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, we have about 9-10 inches of snow, but there is a hefty layer of ice under it. I have heard that the trails immediatley surrounding town are great, but even 10-15 miles out on the ND side they dont have nearly the snow we got right around town. Maybe it is a little better on the Minnesota side, we are going to ride around Fargo this weekend, sticking around the Wild Rice should mean good snow. I guess we'll find out. Would I drive 250 miles? Eh, maybe.

I put on 100 miles in Fargo and just south of town. Snow is amazing in some ditches. I would call in sick to work and get up here now. Found some deep ditches this week with up to 8 feet of powder in them from the heavy snow.

Only got in 30 miles tonight but it was a blast. N/S ditches better than E/W ones. The layer of ice sucks but a lot of people out riding. If you need to ride you will not be disappointed.

Coming over to Fargo from Valley City,Sunday. Suggestions where to unload? Usually we just drive until the snow looks good and pull into an approach or something but open to suggestions. Thanks...

Me and a buddy are going to be heading to fargo tomorrow morning and take off towards Fergus Falls on the MN side. The driver from Norandex-Reynolds that drops off siding at my buddy's business said they have a good bit of snow, according to NWS snow depth its between 10-20 inches.

we're also unloading at wild rice tomorrow morning...hope the snow is alright
Coming from 50 miles northwest of Grand Forks I was thinking of unloading the sleds at Hankinson on Sunday and doing a cross-country loop down into SD and back. According to the snow map it looks like good snow down there. Anyone interested in doing a ride like this?

We did 50 miles this am south of Fargo. Buddy had to end early to keep the wife happy. Overall not to bad. Shelter belts and the upper banks of the river was pretty good.

Me and 3 other guys ended up going to McVille ND and rode to Tulna and back, put on about 50-55 miles. ditches were about half full with lots of powder under the first half inch of crust, overall had a good time, was pretty rough in a lot of places though. Stubble fields had a good 8-10 inches of powder and that was very fun to ride in.

I am a member of the Red River Sno-Riders. Saturday was our kick off party for the season. That is why Wild Rice Bar and Grill was so packed. Monday the state of ND will be inspecting the trails and if the signing is ok, we will be able to open the trails and start grooming.

I have been riding in the Kidred/ Colfax area, which is south of Fargo and they have even more snow than Fargo does. I have put on about 350 miles between my two sleds. I found some waist deep powder in the CRP, over all thought the riding is pretty good, the fields could use more snow but the ditches are great.

I probably saw you mlanglie, saw a 99 ZR 600. The ditches were extremely rough but that's how I like it, nobody in my group but one person could hang. We found snow about 4 feet deep but it had such a hard layer it didn't matter. Also found a new spot to waterskip. :div20:
We'll probably be riding around Enderlin if I get my sled back in time from the dealer this weekend.

The ditches have snow, but its a little rough. We were out Tuesday nite. The plows have been out cleaning the roads, so there are alot of snow chunks in the ditch. But for this time of the year its still OK.....

I was talking to my dad in Wahpeton last night and they started grooming the trails down there. The ditches are nice, but you have to watch out for debris from the downed power lines from last week's storm.

Dirt everywhere in the ditches near Wild Rice. Nice conditions to go fast but not the funnest riding.
