Iam planning a trip to the U.P. in feb with my wife. Iam not sure where I want to go? I've been to Grand Marais but never to Munsing. Iam going with my wife so they wont be all day rides mabey 100 to 125 mile days. Any suggestions? Are there any down falls to Munsing? Thanks for any info..

trails are beat on the weekends. its a good off trail spot or weekday ride, but there are better trails elsewhere on weekends.

Better off staying in Grand Marais or Seney on the weekend. Munising is in the middle of trail 8. It's RR bed and the trail gets beat on the weekend. You have to ride trail 8 to go either east or west. Groomers try their best to keep up but there is just to many sled ripping through there. There is a good loop to the south from there, but that limits you. Munsing + Weekend = Off trail riding. JMHO.

You could head further west to Big Bay or Three Lakes

I would say Grand Marais would be better for a variety of riding, however; it is now one way in and one way out as far as trail access.

Munising has been beat everytime I have been there. Okay to pass through mid-week. But their grooming schedule is messed up and doesn't give the trails a chance.

Grand Marais dunno.gif Nice place to visit for lunch, I personally don't like to stay there. One way in & out, usually PACKED!

If you are set on driving that far past the bridge, I'd stay in Seney and make a few loops around there. Or go a little farther toward Chatham.

I don't know here you have riddem before, so I don't want to suggest places you have already tried.

I just finished laying out a 5 day saddle bag trip for a guy doing the whole Eastern and Central U.P. , if you have any questions, feel free to PM me, I'd be glad to help with ideas for nice places to stay with 100 mile rides that are easy to navigate and somewhat weekend friendly :div20:
