Why don't these and other events cooperate!
All on the same date. January 28th

Tip Up Town, Houghton Lake
NASF, Cadillac
Poker run, Sault Ste. Marie
Hess Lake Festival, Newaygo

All of these are fun to attend, why can't they stagger their dates some? :banghead:

Well according to a post on sled-hedz Tip Up Town was cancelled and moved to Cadillac on Sunday only that weekend, also on that weekend is a snow drag in Mancelona on Saturday.

I agree though, it does suck that they are all on the same weekend!!!

Tip Up Town Cancelled? It took this many years to not be able to raise the $$$ to have it? I know they were scrambling for funds this fall. Probably insurance issues.

And why did the NASF move up a week?

It's like car show seaosn is for me, there are only so many weekends and sometimes events collide. I'm having a heck of a time picking when to go to the U.P. this season since $$$ will be limited for sledding. :banghead:

Does that mean Cadillac will be ridicuously packed that weekend? I reserved 2 rooms at the Sands, maybe it will be too crowded. Last year, cops were giving tickets for racing.

A little off topic, But another good event... PHATMAN Shootout, 1st saturday in March...Mark it on the calander.... Biggest unsactioned (*spelling) Race of the year in Michigan... RUN WHAT YA BRUNG!!!

Tip up town isn't cancelled. Our crews will still be there. We made our reservations a long time ago.

the MRRISDS classed race was what was cancelled in HL.
im sure their festival will still be going strong.
there are not enough weekends that have favorable conditions for each promoter
to have their event.
the cadillac event will be big, not like the phat man, but will be alot of fun.

Does anyone know why was Cadillac moved up a week?

We normally do 2 weeks at Houghton Lake and then one week at Cadillac.

We will have to decide on which place to go. Someone is going to loose out on some money.

TUT is not as much fun as it use to be. DNR everywhere, just waiting for someone to drive by with a smile on their face so they can give them a ticket.

The last few years we don't take the race sleds. We take the trail sleds and do some riding. We may go to the tent or hang out at the cabin. If the weather is good have an outside fire.



The Sands called us several months ago and told us our reservations were moved up to the 27th and 28th.

And yes, the cops (Anti-Fun Police) were giving people tickets for racing in front of the Sands hotel. 5 or 6 cops were sitting in the state park (West of the hotel, near the open water canel). They had handheld Lazer Guns. As soon as they clock someone over 55MPH, two cops would drive out on the lake, pull the people over, take the person drivers license, make them follow them over to the park. 2 other cops would take over and write up the tickets. Then the 2 cops on sleds would head back out and pull over 2 more people. I sat and watched them pull over at least 10 people within 15 or 20 minutes.


Did anyone see the guy ride down the open water canal giving the cops the bird? That was unreal. :lol2: .

I heard they caught the guy, some neighbor turned him in?

we will be at tip up town the first weekend reserved 5 rooms at comfort suites, tip up town is still alot of fun, and we never had any hassle racing last year, we always race right in front of the comfort suites, the dnr sat and watched us..

Okay I guess I should have been a little more clear when I said Tip Up Town was cancelled, I meant the RACE was canc. NOT Tip Up Town as the original post was asking about races being held on the same weekend.

As for the moving of the NASF i can only assume that they did not want to compete with Super Bowl Weekend especially when it is in Detroit, just my guess

Figure this out?........are you kidding? I'm still trying to figure out why my wife's office dinner is this Saturday 12/3. Not only that, she schedules a vacation to Florida for 12/10 through 12/17....count 'em, THREE WEEKENDS in December.

I feel for ya! Normal Decembers you wouldn't see enough snow to ride until after Christmas. Looks like you're gonna miss 3 good riding weekends!

Awe! That's too bad Hoop. The rest of the dedicated GNS'rs will just have to enjoy these next 3 weekends enough for you :tease:
