Headed up to Saguenay / Mont. Valins Friday, got to the Holiday Inn about 8:30PM.
Very nice people and Great food there.
We had to trailer up to the Mont Valins Ski area parking Sat and Sun morning because the river & lakes are not iced over yet. Its about a 45 min ride.
Lots of snow 2 to 4 feet in certin areas.
The clubs are working hard to get the trails in top notch condition, I seen them out both Sat & Sun grooming.

Early in the morning the trails were in great shape, by mid day 93 gets pretty beat up for about a 20 mile radius from the Relais la Chapelle! I believe that was the name.
I think its doo to the lack of moisture in the snow, it does not pack very well.
When we were leaving on Mon it started to rain/freezing rain which I think this will help the trails more then if it snowed again.

We rode on groomed trails and deep powder riding.
The temps were -8F to 24F above and great weather.
On Sat we did 165 miles and on Sun we did 230 miles it was a great trip and worth it.
Here are some pic's we took.

Nice post/report Jim (GTSE800)
Jim, Gary, Daryl and John (thats me). 3 Renegades and a Grand Touring.

My 2 cents on Monts Valin:
One word: WOW!!! Its all that and more! Fantastic people (especially people and breakfast/lunches at Relais la Chapelle!), gas at Passion next to the huge parking area at Valinuout is also very handy.

It was a long drive up and back, but it was worth it, and now I'm ready to finish accessorizing based on what we learned.

Here’s a few more pictures from our trip to drool over.

My new Renegade
Nice piece of trail

Can't wait for the big trips this season! See you on the trail!

Any nightlife?

Glad you boys had a good time. Also thanks for buying your trail passes from the Caribou-Conscrits Club. It truly is "Paradise".

La chappelle is the relais that you were refering too, always busy there this time of year.

Night life at the Mountain is minimal, If you stay in the city (45 min. ride)there is plenty of nightlife but usually equates to a late start in the morning.

From the Toronto area....what is the most direct way to get there?

I did the mapquest thing....I cannot find the town.
squarehead
Use saint david de falardeau for the "to" destination.

Basically you go to Quebec and head north to Chicoutimi-Saugenay- Jonquiere. From there you cross the Saugeney river and head towards le Valinouet ski area (parc Monts Valin). If you still can't MapQuest it I can help you from home when I'm looking at a map of Quebec province.
journeyjohn
try google maps
clajoie
there are 2 ways of going there! one is by st-david de falardeau an a other by st-rose du nord I prefered saint rose du nord beacause the road is much larger. free to you to decide!

In both ways you have to cross the bridge goiing over the saguenay river assuming your arriving by the 175 north.

from there if you go direction chicoutimi nord going up the little hill after the bridge you'll turn right at the light after equipement villeneuve(big snowmobile dealer) then it's straight until you see the valinouet signs that you follow...once youre at the ski slopes....

Get thoses snowmobiles out and have fun don't forget to by a pass for the time of your stay it help us keep the trail as nice as possible. and it's 24/7 over there.

the other way is by saint-rose du nord once you cross the bridge keeep your right befor goiing up the hill you must turn from there it's straight for about 20 min or so. when you see the pile of wood on your right there will be a very large entrance at your left.(in front of the wood pile) that is the other way you got straight on that utill the kilometer 31 I think then your near the chapel:) you can miss it there are a lot of parking and it's the place for the grooming sleeds.

if you have any more question go see mapquest or ask me!!!
