Last year this started to happen. You will use the brake then the light on the dash will stay on and the rear light will stay really bright. Brake works fine but i dont want the light to stay stuck on. What should i do. Sled is still under warrenty should i take it in or can i fix it.

Why waste your time fixing it yourself, have them take care of it if its still on warranty, but make sure you know how long theyll have your sled and what they are going to do to it and make sure you agree with the time before you leave it to them.

Same thing happened to my 1999 XC 700. It was the brake lite switch. Mine was located at the brake lever, (pull in the lever pushes in the switch button). You really need it to work if you don't want rear ended. Its an easy fix but the part is kinda steep for a switch. I would check to see if it is your problem then have the dealer order it for you. Then its not setting in there shop for 2 weeks. Took a few minutes to swap it out. Hope it helps, Bob.

i think thats the problem. it comes loose but you have to pump the brakes and just ride a little. ill check that out thanks

Another similiar question:

Should the brake lights work as soon as the sled is fired up sittin in idle and not given any revs? It seems my brake light only works after I give the sled some juice and doesnt work if I just leave it in idle after JUST firing it up.. is this normal? The breaks lights work fine at any other time but seem to die down if the sled isn't gettin any throttle action on statup..

thanks
