I am asking a question for a friend of mine who has just purchased a 2006 venture two up and he is wondering if there are any performance upgrades that he can add to his sled ie exhaust ,clutching ? and for my curiosity about how fast will this sled go? just want to make sure i have him coverd with my 2000 sx700r with pipes. Thanks for any info :beerchug:

I have a 05 RS Venture. One of my riding buddies took my sled across a long flat lake.( I was ice fishing and beer drinking)He said he saw the speedo at 99. From what I've heard they read a little high,so maybe low to mid 90's? The Venture has wicked traction,so in the soft stuff it may take the 700 on the hole shot, but you will prob catch and pass your buddy when your track stops spinning.Theres alot of different stories on 2 strokes taking on four strokes, seems theres a lot of variables, snow conditions, rider skill, distance raced etc..The 600 cc 2 's seem to be closest to the 973 .I even beat my cousin on his 800 polaris xcsp once on real soft sloppy snow in a short run!But he's blown by me every other time!Thats what makes it fun to run I guess.

Hi
Last winter I met a guy with a brand new 05 RS Venture, man what a great sled!
He had it Picked, and a dealer installed factory approved Turbo, he claimed that he had other enhancments done, Clutches, Chips etc. and the sled was capable 130mph +. I know he embarased a couple of punks with AC Fircats F-7's up on a lake in Pittsburg was pretty funny to see!

Simons CPR has a nice little turbo for the Vector that I bet would work on the RS Venture. 195 hp.
For the most part, any go-fast part for the Vector/Rage/Nytro should work just fine on the RS Venture.
As for how fast will it go, Id venture (no pun intended) to say that it should be able to do 90-95 mph.

Ulmer clutch kit, stage 3 and springs for the carbs from Holtzman Engineering will make it another machine, Totallyamaha.com will have any and all answers you want on this sled! A Pipe is going to net you a few h.p. at most, Excell mottorsports & Hauck are a few that make pipes! Ulmer racing also has a set of plugs that's a dyno proven 3 h.p. and can inform you on any other mods. Horse power costs dollars, the more you want the more you pay, cheapest turbo set up is going to run you 6500.00 installed with guages etc.
Bergstrom Skegs are the best carbides in the business, a set of 8" tripple points with "ski savers" and "shims" will make it steer like it's on rails, if you call Scott Bergstrom he can set you up with what's best for your application! Google up each of these companies for more information, I would suggest putting the wider Mountain ski bottoms on! Also make the front shock in the skid to full stiff and set transfer rods to about 1" transfer, loosen up the front shock springs to about 1/2 to 2/3rds soft, (some even like them as soft as possible) and it will steer effortlessly and corner when you want instead of pushing so bad. Don't drop the throttle all the way as you enter into the corner, 4 strokes, do better if you continue with some power through the corner if you drop the power it will try to push more, it's a different way of riding but once you get used to it it will RAIL! Excell Motorsports also made a really nice header for the Genesis 120 "with" there pipe, (two seperate items) would bring your h.p. up to around 128 or a bit more, big difference through out the entire rpm range from what other say! I don't know if they have anymore or not but you can look in the classified section on Snowest and Totallyamaha for these headers if they don't have any more in stock. K&N filters showed a drop in H.p. on the 120 and so are not really used by any one. Hotzman also has a really nice, simple NOS kit if this is an option for you as well. This is all the info you need to make this a fast, sled that will rail.......Good Luck.
