I can get a great deal on a SLP silencer for my 05 ZR 900 EFI, it's suppose to save 8 lbs. and pick up 2 or 3 horse. I'd like to know if the claims are true and if it's any louder than stock.

you wont feel any power gains from any silencer, even if they are there.
the SLP silencer does sounds real nice though and looks good with the ceramic coat. it's not real loud, just sounds nice. i'd definitely recommend it

He's correct, it is a deeper sound than the stock one. Also it is easier to work under the hood because of the size. They are nice, but in our neck of the woods the issue of altered exhaust is becoming more prevalent. SLP makes a nice product.

Vince, it works well dropping lbs. but the H.P. is suspect, and it definately is louder than stock. :div20: :div20: :div20:

It has a very distinct "drone" that becomes annoying in a hurry + it'll slow yer sled down. Only bonus I see is that it gives lots more clearance at the chaincase especially if your running reverse.

I like the idea of more room under the hood for storage, that stock cannister is huge, more noise is a turnoff though, I don't need to draw any more attention to myself than needed.

So did I when I first tried it on, stock suitcase bangs on the reverse chaincase a little. It sounded fine in the garage but drove me nuts on the first ride and definately slowed the sled down. Had a buddy give it a whirl down the trail while I listened, not overly loud or offensive to others.

I like my mbrp due to looks. The slp's look like poor craftsmanship due to you are able to see the inner baffles because the out shell is pushed in between them. Either way I think it will be loud. Weight savings and room makes it nice. didn't notice a gain or loss.
