Just wondering what some of you prefer... I ordered my 06 with elec start... After trying to start a buddies 900 last year at 20 below....Enough said! LOL

Some people have the impression that the fuse is too heavy in the nose already, What kind of weigth do you think a battery, Starter motor, and Ring-gear on the clutch will add to the weight of this sled.

Truthfully, if you do not have the strength to pull over an 866 CC motor, I would be slightly worried about having the strength to get it through the corners. Or if the 06's perform better than the 05's how would you even be able to hang on to it while holding the throttle to the bars?

I also see that as another expensive part to be replaced when it takes a crap on you.

I am not trying to be a dick, it just occurs naturally!!

I like em simple and clean under the hood. But I pretty much shut down at -5 so the hard pulling at -20 don't affect me.

I'm the gadget type of guy that some say Polaris was marketing this sled to.

I ordered mine with electric start and the M10. Not that overly concerned about the extra pounds up front, that can be overcome by making other aftermarlket changes (SLP airbox and a lighter can) if need be.

I love the ergonomics of the sled, the mid-range power and torque of the 900 Liberty and the battery was a necessary item for some of my accessories.

Had to add a dash mounted GPS, threw out the stock junk halogen bulbs and threw in a pair of super white Sylvanias. Also replaced the two clear inner running light bulbs with a pair of red bulbs to accent the sled's colors (black over red).

Will be adding four red LED modules under the hood and in the tunnel for night effect.

Also have picked up a remote start/alarm system that I will be installing soon.

Yep, I'm a lazy, fat 'lectric starting bastard, and I can't wait to sit in my warm camp while punching the remote to start up my Fuse (or chirpin' the siren every time one of my nosy camp neighbors starts poking around the sled).

The Fuse is a fantastic sled for us techno-geeks.....and the electric start/battery combo was a perequisite for me! smiley-faces7.gif

To make your sled a little easier to start, try not to idle it very much before you stop it at the end of the day. The Cleanfire engines tend to build up oil on the cylinder walls, which make it harder to turn over in the morning.

Better skis, especially with a rocker in them will give you good aggressive steering as well as less steering effort. I ride 500-600 mile days with a studded long track sled, and I need good handling as well as low effort. I have a strong mind, but weak wrists, not to be confused with limp wrists.

And finally in case any body should ask...

original Electric Start kit for '05 900 Fusion. 2875123

4.75 lb Brackets, cables & hardware
6.84 lb Starter Motor
11.00 lb. Battery & Acid
1.75 lb. Increase in weight of primary clutch equipped with ring gear
========
24.34 lb. total increase in weight

weights are similar for the new '06 Cleanfire kit.

On a below zero day, I always give my sled 3-4 slow pulls to help loosen the engine up a little before giving it my all to start it. :beerchug:

i would of got electric start too. Not everybody enjoys pulling like wild men I imagine on a 900. Whatever ur comfortable with
fastfusion900
Polaris gave me one free option on my 06 900. The options were racer graphics, 128 m-10 or electric start. I would have gotten 128 track but did not want another m-10.

Of all the crap I went through on mine last year, amazingly starting was never an issue. It would always fire on the second pull. It might not run for more than a minute. on a cold start, but it always fired-up.

On really cold starts (below -10 F ) just pull the rope real slow to get everything to move. then once it is loosend up from that give it a yank. It makes a huge difference, because what Excursion stated about the oil film on the cylinders is a true item. And when it is arctic Bone-ass cold this stuff is like glue trying to hold it all in one piece!

If I were buying new, Id opt for electric start. Sure, theres more maintenance but in the end its nice to go out and turn the key.
The '05 Fusion that I demo rode last winter seemed really easy to start with the recoil. I figured that it would be even harder to pull over than a 700, so when I started it I gave the sled a good firm pull and I just about ripped the rope off of the sled. It pulls over easier than a 440.
