I Just installed the 10.4 DD on My M, but the belts have been back ordered since I ordered in Sept. Any one find a belt that will work for the 10.4DD on the M's 11.5 centers.
I installed the new sheaves mainly because I didn't want to cut the clutch, possible durabilty issues and I could use new sheaves that come with new bushings. Also do you think I will notice any performance changes?
thanks

I added these pics to show the fit!
First pic shows the belt being installed. I had to concave the footwell out about 1/4" only, very minor and hardly noticeable.
The next two pics show the modification to the bracket behind the clutch and to the handlebar support.
The handlebar support needs about a !1/4" taken off at an angle and the back bracket can be pushed toward the tunnel, redrilled and riveted. I modified the bracket slighlty to allow it to push in farther.
Now at full shift out, with the stock white helix spacer, I have about 3/8" of clearance. I think it should work fine. I might need to take .060-.080 off of the spacer, depending on the belt width I find, but still plenty of clearnace.

JUST NEED TO FIND A BELT....

IM bikeman......I IM them and gave them a belt number that would work. It was an ultramax belt. I have it here in a pile of notes but not sure if I can find it now.

Have you put the clutch on the M sled yet? put it on with out the secondary spring in it and watch where it hits. You will see that you will need to do some fab work.

Dono, I have the clutch on the sled and it fits great with very little modification needed. I hope you can find the # for the belt. What dimension are the stock 36 belt?
My calculations figure the belt length will need to be 5/8" longer. Does that sound correct?
I can not find a listing of belt dimensions, do you have one you can email me.
Also I am contemplating installing the 65/55 gears. Do you know the formula to figure final ratios. I would like to know the ratio numbers for 57/63 with 8 tooth 3 " pitch and 65/55 8 tooth 3" pitch vrs. 65/55 10 tooth 2.52 pitch.
Thanks Tim

wouldnt it be the same as the 06 f7? i would think so as they have the 10.4 secondary and i cant believe the motor would be in a differant place in the m chassis. if it is the same belt it is an arcticcat 044 for the 10.4"
rebel
No the Firecat belt is not correct, the center to center distance is 11" for the FC
and 11.5 for the M
the 044 FC belt is 44.706 long, I think
the 036 M belt is 45.00" long, I think
I need a new belt 45.625 long, I think

Thanks Tim

The 036 is 45 X 1 and 7/16th
The polaris IQ belt is 44.875 X 1 and 7/16th

Give me a min to dig into my notes......

Yes your 100% correct we need a belt .625"s longer so anything 45.625 would work. I think there is a belt that is very close but longer. If there is enuff room in the deflection a longer belt will work till the sheeves are touching in the center. Then just shaving some off the inner sheeve would give more movment in the deflection to make a belt work. I am sure there was an ultramax belt that will work but I will need to IM bikeman bacause I have deleted that IM to him.
