called a really good friend of mine on the inside....its true, dealers need $

fix: replace all torx screws with metric, ALUMINUM bolts. threads need to be as long as the whole torx screw, 8 grade washers...NO Loctite of ANY kind..

ok... the reason for the aluminum bolts is obvious: they will strip before the case does.......the washers fill the gap where the torx screw head would normally be seated

clean every year? yes... thats alot of disassembly...so we dont wanna hurt the case...

Good Luck ...... :beerchug:

what'swrong with the torx screws? They work fine for me. They are actually pretty easy to take in and out and never had one fall out yet. And they only cost $.14 at the dealer. Cheaper than your aluminum bolts

ever try and get rusty torx screws out of a snowflap? :banghead: besides that I have no real complaints.

yeah mine came out real easy.

I dropped a riser hex style bolt down between the gas tank and air box. Cost me $2.30 CDN! I know that's pocket change, but for a single bolt?!

I love the torx screws, much better then the rivets other manufacture use IMO

Delgaty why did you not go to the hardware store and get a bolt there dunno.gif

and #2 why not take the airbox off to get the original bolt back dunno.gif

What happens when you are going through moguls and the bolt bounces out into the primary clutch Wow1.gif

the subject isnt about how easy or how hard the screws come out .
or even the cost of them.

its about disassembly and assembly over a period of time.
wear on the gear case threads.

sheesh.............
