@%#t..............you're right. I just went to the SLP website and looked at their crappy picture of their airbox, NOW I see the difference. Sooooo........what do you think of the Timbersled kit? Should I return it and get the SLP?

i dont know if it will be good or not. is the filter right by a hood vent on the timbersled? only concern i would have is it might suck in more hotter underhood air? not sure though so i cant say. i think the slp boxes are hard to come by too? i got lucky and seen dk had 2 of them. slp is kinda slow at getting them.

My timbersled kit will be here in a couple of days. I guess I'll unpack it and see what it looks like. It looks like it MIGHT draw in more hot air from under the hood.....but if that's the case, might be able to make a shroud, or guard from sheet aluminum...??? Have to see.

And whats with SLP not having anything available. Was gonna get a silencer, but can't seem to find anyone who has them dunno.gif dunno.gif

Good find on the SLP airbox!! :div20:

i guess slp is slow on every thing. too many products to get developed in a short period of time. some guys say shit is backordered into next year for some stuff. i hear if u send in cylinders for a bb kit or porting now u probably wouldnt see them till feb. :augen41: Wow1.gif

Timbersled and drawing hot air????

WTF are you smoking? At 20MPH how much hot air do you think that think will be sucking.... Think about it. You got a straight shot to the filter element from the hood vents.

Yah... Yur gonna really see a differenct between air that's -10 and -12???? Hello??? Stop thinking so much.

My wife tell's me I shouldn't try to think................. :banghead:

My timbersled kit's adapter plate ( the aluminum plate in the pic) has a tall flat side to isolate it from the heat, so it shouldn't draw to much hot air from the exhaust, however I had to trim the front corner of the belt guard as it was for the rmk , no big deal literally 1 min. It looks like a good kit , my dealer liked it and he hates everything :beerchug:

Hey bro.....been a long time!

Did you have to mod the stock intake tract at all, or does the air filter mounting plate attach directly to the duct?
StevieWonder
I've been here ,just hangin around and reading, no rerouting, simple install ,remove box, put on adapter plate ,attach it to duct, put on your filter(I got the snow filter also), install belt guard ,push down on the front of the guard ,the pin goes through and put your cotter pin in to secure, then open your bottle of beer and admire what you did :div20:

Seems simple enough!!! So simple in fact, I think even I can handle this project......especially the part where I get to open a bottle of beer (I have been practicing that part all night!!) :beerchug:  :celebrating: Thanks for the info
Stevie. Even if I don't gain one HP off this mod, it'll be worth it to me just in the weight savings. :div20:
StevieWonder
The weight saving alone and a regular belt guard that should get more air flow to the clutches and with the epi kit and my slp torque and push arm I hoping we got the belt issue over :beerchug:
sayatodaU.P.eh?
don't any of you wisconsin guys[or anybody else for that matter]use
riechert peroformance for your slp stuff?? slp did not have my torque
link or stop in stock but they gave me rpc's number to call and see if
they had it. i called rpc and got a very helpfull saleman that had my
order out the same day. :div20:

i have a good riding bud that has done A LOT of business with riechert
performance center over the last few years. nothing but good things
to say about them. i know that i will be calling them back. :div20:

right on, that is totally understandable.

just thought i would ask. :beerchug:
StevieWonder
I would deal with RPC but to get it across the border I get raped by ups with brokerage fees, you'd think that with all the riding in Ontario there would be more suppliers handling all that good USA stuff :banghead:

not many slp dealers in canada either? or do uget raped from them too because of brokerage? is us postal or fed ex any different. or do u get screewwed on brokrerage to. maybe try to get somebody in the states to order and send as a gift?
1995xcr600
I've found that brokerage fees are way less is is you ship via the USPS compared to FedEx or UPS.
StevieWonder
REEEAALLYY!, how much was the difference, can you give an example because I may order some things then. I'll give you an example, my timbersled intake was 200 u.s., by the time my dealer got it it was 340 cdn :banghead: , his cost ,he and I are good friends (20 years) he said just cover the bill and carry on :beerchug: ,but on other stuff I'll go USPS

Took me 6 hours, and 45 dollars to to make my own kit. I used and old belt shield from another Poo, thats been bend and cut to fit perfecly. For intake i used 2 mm stainless steel thats been cut donw and bend to perfect fit, and where i welded in a 2 1/2 inch inlet so the K&N filter can fit it... At last, i polished both parts to high gloss. :div20:

According to the ad, 7.5 lbs. And by the size of the MASSIVE stock air box/belt guard, I can believe it. I gonna weigh the stock air box and the kit (when it arrives) to see how much weight savings there actually is.

I would like to know how loud the intake noise is on the Timbersled unit? Thanks

2 pics of the homemade inlet....
polaris9500
well after about 3.5 hours i got it done. kind of a tight biatch to get in there but fits nice once its in there. its going to have some intake noise for sure. i filled it back up with coolant got the air out and reveed it up a few time and it sounds like she really suckin some air. obviously it wasnt made for the htg pipe so i made a little aluminum heat shield on top the box cause the pipe rested on it then put some reflective tape on.. tried shimming the rubber bumper up but that wasnt quite enough. so i unbolted the silencer and moved it back a inch should be good and pipe will still seal good. here is some pics. sucks air from radiator opening and from the front hood vents :div20:
