dunno.gif alright guys im looking for a camera. i want a camera with the following features. i do not know the names so could you please tell me the names of the features

1) i want sport like feature where the camera will take like 5-10 pictures right in a row so you can get the best one like say a quarterback throws a pass and you can take 5-10 pics of it so you can get the best one.

2) you know those pictures that you of like a highway and its a bunch of streaks of llight from the cars headlights and then it shows the car after the streaks of light? whats that feature called? this is a shittie description but maybe you understand. i could maybe get a pic of it as an example.

could you guys tell me the names of these features and suggest some cameras that have these. the camera doesnt HAVE to have the #2 feature but i would like it to. it atleast has to have feature #1. it needs to be kinda cheap and i would kinda prefer a sony

i found my answer to question 1. its called burst mode. my question is can i adjust the time inbetween each picture so say like im hitting a jump can i adjust it so i get a picture of for example me going off the ramp, in the air, landing, then riding away? or will i just get like 4 pics of me going off the ramp? i hope you understand?

This could be done with a good digi-cam DV in progressive mode. It snaps 30 shots a sec. and plays them back so it looks like a solid movie. Canon Elura with Prog. Scan.

This is a time delay photo. When it's dark out you can have a longer timed exposure and it will show the lights of a car as trailers. If you have ever seen a photo of a water fall that looks like its moving, timed exsposure.

If you like Sony, look at Cyber Shot-M or and of the pricy DSC series. The DSC will have all the features you want and more.    Doug

hmm im not sure you are understanding because by the way you explained them they sound different.

lets just focus on the burst mode, forget that other feature.
. my friend has a camera that when it is on burst mode will take i think his is up to 10 shots right after another. they are all 10 seperate picture but are taken within like split seconds of each other. so say a golfer is going to wack a ball and you take a pic of it in burst mode it will give you a pic of the club in every position of the swing as he hits the ball.
on the sony camera that i posted a link to up there it says it takes up to 4 pictures in burst mode, so what i want to know is can i adjust the amount of time inbetween each picture?
is what i want is say i am going to hit a jump with my sled. i dont want a friend to take a pic and have a pic of me at the at the beggining of the jump, in the middle of the jump, and at the lip of the jump.
instead i want to delay the frames a bit so it will take a pic say when i am on the jump, in the air, and at the landing, do you understand what im getting to?

edit:actually i re-read it and it sounds like thats exactly what i want. i already have my mind set on the camera that i posted a link to above(low on money). so could someone answer my burst mode question. thanks guys!

anyone know?
snowtime
Burst/Continuos Drive shooting on the DSC S40 is 0.6 Frames per second and it cannot be changed.

damn, alright thanks! i guess it wont do exactly what i want but it will be fine. this one takes 4 pictures at .7 frames a second, so thats 2.8 seconds. it should work alright beings it shouldnt take to long to hit a jump.
RONiN
4 pictures in 2.8 seconds is not fast enough for catching your buddy with multiple shotsin the air. the canon S2 IS shoots bursts at 2.4 frames every second.

your second criteria is called "second curtain flash". the camera shutter opens for predetermined amount of time (1 second for instance). the flash won't fire until the the last 1/500 of a second that the shutter is open. you get tail/headlights and a picture of the car at the end of the trail of lights. and yes, the S2 does that too.

does that make any sence to you?

alright how much the camera you are talking about? i might just stick with the sony and just use it to get the best shot while in the air.

im kind of confused on this statement. so the camera you are talking about shots 2.4 frames a second? so how many shots total does it take?
canona650is

catchtheone
CANON SX100 is wonderful...

You can check it out.
canonsx100
i suggest Canon G9 powershot, because with this digital camera you can capture pics withoput blurring, and its photo quality is really wonderful too grinning-smiley-023.gif
canonsx100
i personally suggest Canon G9 or Nikon D60

Canon SD770

We use a digital rebel which will shoot 2.8 frames per second and I have shot as many as 14 shots in a burst. I suspect that $700 for a body and $1200 for a lens is more than you want to pay, but fast cameras and lens aren't cheap. My pocket camera is a fuji F810 which has been great and one of the best compact cameras I've tried, but it won't compete with the rebel for speed. The fuji won't do burst shooting, but the sensor is really fast for a compact and does a good job capturing action which is the cheap digital cameras bane, that and low light shooting.

For all my camera questions I go to www.dpreview.com

Here is a burst sequence taken with the canon and stiched back together in photoshop. This is a seriously reduced quality version (17mb originaly) for posting.

nikond60
i suggest Nikon D60
