Hi Guys,

I would like to upgrade my track on my 92 500 Classic. I would like to go to a 1" inch or a 1.25' inch track. I have 3 questions for you guys.
1) I was told mine is a 133" track but can I go to a 136 and take up the slack witht the track tension adjusters.

2) Do I have the clearence in my suspension to go to a larger track.

3) Will I absolutely kill my top end or would a larger track be too much for my 500 to handle through out the power ranges.

I know i should I upgrade the whole sled but mine runs so well and has been very well maintained all its life I do not want to get rid of it and maybe get someone elses headaches and the 488 Fugi motor is so reliable.

A 136" track needs 1.25" more back than the 133.5" track. You can also take up that slack by setting your suspension back that much which would give you a better angle of attack. Can easily gear down a bit in the chaincase for the engine to handle the extra weight of the track but shouldn't really be necessary. Those old rides are hard to get rid of, but you'd enjoy the better ride and handling of a newer sled.

i have a 1 inch track on my 1992 indy 500 trail, love it so far, hooks up nice on grass, and still flys like a bat outta hell on grass,

pretty sure your track is a 121, the only ones i know of that have the 133 are the sks models,

also on the polarisman.com specifcations it says it is a 121 track,

its a 500 liquid you havem i have a 500 fan, and it spins the bigger lug track no problem ypurs will be perfect with a bigger track,

i now someone on another forum is running a 1.25 inch, on is indy, dont think he had to modify anything for it,

hope this helps you out
