well i decided to got to hatchers because its only a short drive......not much snow, maybe 16-18 inches the raod had lots of hard pack tho so i got to open it up just a little. alot faster than i thought it would be. dont have a speedo so i couldnt tell ya how fast. anyway.....was it worth it? sorta lots of rocks out and shit like that i only rode for an hour
DITCHJOCKEY
so how much did you pick that 800 up for? and what year is it
polarispunk
i paid $5000 even, its a 2004. bought a 136 track for it and a skid plate so i got about 6k in right now

Did you make it to the gate? You have to go back by the crow creek mine to get any real snow.

it got wind blown.....the higher elevatin and farther back i went the more rock i ran into.....i tooled around in the flat spots in the bottom of the bowl though. all i wanted was see how it ran. and yeah i parked at the last gait...the road was super narrow tho...

Right on man!!! Do you like the sled? Hopefully we get all the snow we havent got so far, and supposed to have, all in one dump pretty soon. Me,you and powderhound need to go rally and do some filming when we get it!! motoneige31.gif
HYFLYR
So how did you like the 8 hundo. Was it what you expected? WHen are you going to throw your track on? Anyway, glad to hear you got it out and went for a ride. See ya later.
polarispunk
no its not at all what i expected. the 800 feels alot different than my 700. when you hit the throttle on the 700 its all there that instant. the 800 has more power but the power band is way different, the 700 seems more crisp. it pulls very hard on the top end tho which i like. going to take some getting used to.....btw does any one know what gearing these sleds use??
Ak4life
That kinda sounds like a clutch thing, powderhound ordered a clutch kit for his firecat and had it put on, the following day we took it out and it felt like his sled was never fully warmed up. You would open it up and it would just fall on its face for a couple seconds and and then eventually gain rpm's a get going. He thinks it might of been the potition of the spring we changed but havnt got to try it yet. maybe you should find out what helix, springs, weights come stock and see what you have in there.
HYFLYR
Ok, what it sounds like here is you have a clutching issue. What was the rider weight of the guy that had it before you? SInce it is piped and other goodies and raced it is possible he has it set up for max performance for him which is more than likely not going to match you. I would ask him if what all he has done to the clutches, gearing and anything else.

The 700 isnt as strong out of the hole as the 800, it just isnt if set up well. I would find out what he has done then adjust it to your riding style. If you like bottom end like i do, i would probably drop a tooth in the gears and add some weight to the primary. I think this would help you anyway since you might be going to a longer track, i use the 19/45 gearing that snocrossers use because i like the 0-60 better than anything. The tourque that motor is putting out especially with that pipe should pull way harder than your 700. Look into the clutches, then gearing and make a desicion on what you want to do, or wait till you put your track on, then do it. Its quick and easy to change things, and fun.

he told me that the gearing was stock..he messed with the clutching a bit. 68 gram wieght is what i think he said, stock helix and different spring....plus the guy i bought it from is like 5'5" and 140lbs and im like 6'1"and 250lbs so the sled is set up alot different than i like....i think i need to get the shocks rebuilt with stiffer valving
HYFLYR
I would say that stiffer valving is a must but also drop those wieghts done a little in the clutch. I would try 66's and see how that works out for you. Also you could try slp gearing charts online, they arent the best but they are a good place to start. Go to their tech page for more info.
