what is different in the eb and the production cf7 dunno.gif
klj
Compared to the EB the production CF has the following changes:
1. Geared down (60/60 instead of 65/55)
2. Larger rear tunnel cooler
3. Straight rate 120lb front springs (instead of dual rate 60/120)
4. No flaps for the snow holes at the front of the running boards
5. Smoked higher windshield (instead of low black one)
6. Stator is a different part number...my guess is that it pumps out more juice than the 05 Firecat stator that is in the CF EB.
7. Rear seat has a hunk of foam to separate the storage compartment from the rest of the seat underside. One of the seat release tabs has a plastic stopper that you have to rotate out of the way to be able to move the release tab....kind of a locking mechanism to keep the seat on.
8. Gas tank has a spare spark plug holder molded into it above the secondary. It holds 4 plugs and has a rubber strap to hold the plugs secure.
9. Rear to front coupler blocks.

The West Yellowstone is the same as the EB except that the WY has the coupler blocks and is supposed to be geared down....However the clutching/gearing sticker on my WY CF7 says It's geared up (65/55). My dealer was supposed to confirm my gearing based on the serial number but I haven't heard yet....my guess is that the gearing change was a running changing during assembly and some WY CFs will have the 65/55 and some will have the 60/60....either that or my sticker is wrong! All I know is that Brown's Leisure World parts fiche says the WY CF has the lower 60/60 gearing.

There might be some other details but this is all the ones I know about.

Hope this helps.

very nice post klj

thank u very much

SUPER POST, great info...

The biggest change is obviously the 65/55 VS 60/60 !

Can we start talking about what differences this will mean in terms of performance! Obviously higher TOP end on the newer run, but what are your projections? I doubt any new run CFs have had time to do a top speed tests... so what are your guy's expectations?

Also...

how much low end grunt will the change in gearing prove to show?

All those F7 owners are not going to like us crossfire owners this year grinning-smiley-023.gif especisally if we are quicker and faster like some have suggested.

Don't forget different ECU, a larger gas tank, different side panels, drive clutch (weights), driven clutch (helix), and who knows what else that we haven't discovered yet...

how many people on here dunno.gif have ebcf7? what do u think about them? wish u waited or happy with what u got

I may be wrong but doesnt the eb have a taller gear ratio? (faster) also what is the diff in the tank size? I did notice the handy plug holders molded into the new one.

About 1 gallon, and yes, I believe the summer build will have slightly less top end. Oh well, I didn't buy it to be a lake racer.

Yes, Erich with Bikeman Performance told me the EB gearing means MORE top end speed, not less when compared to the later builds. I think he knows his stuff. Going to the mountains this winter and dont plan on putting in different gears so I'll let you all know what I think of the EB gearing when I get back. Won't be till mid March though.

I have an EB XF,

I thought that it was SUPPOSE to be faster...at least that's what I was told...That was one of the reasons I bought it...I was gonna wait, but when I heard in August that the 06 run was being "geared down" I picked mine out ASAP.

I have prepped my sled to try and gather enough grunt to make the 65/55 gearing turn...at it's full potential

we shall see if it is enough,

IQ belts, D&D Y , Bikeman Pipe Mod pipe, 73gram Dalton primary weights, may see about a few other goodies...

still need to stud it up and try my new Bergstrom Advantage 3's! :div20:

EB= early build. There were two early builds; the really early one, and the "West Yellowstone" build. They are called 2006 models, even though they were produced during the winter of 2004-2005.

Can you elaborate?

1. Any info on the ECU?
2. What size is the regular CF tank? My West Yellowstone (WY) manual says 11 gal.
3. Brown's Leisure World shows all the CFs with 75g weights with the same part No.
4. Browns shows all CFs with a 44/40 helix although the regular CF has a different part no.. What's the difference?

Just curious

what dates are eb and what are production dunno.gif
UNKnXFIRE
My XF was built 1/05 that is stickered all over the place, and on the tunnel.

Production runs are/were mid summer and now as I believe... not exactly sure though.

I don't know how many grams they were, but the early build lists 0646-672 for the cam arms, and the summer build changed to 0746-672. I don't know what the difference is. Same for the helix: different part numbers, but I don't know what they changed about them.

The gas tank is about 1 gallon bigger on the summer builds.

The early build C7s used the same ECU as last years M7, which were well known to run very rich. So it's a very safe bet that this years M7 and summer build C7 had their mapping leaned out, especially because they have emissions limits this year.

My WY says it was built 2/05

Brown's shows the 0646-672 weights as replaced by part no. 0746-672 which seems to indicate that the weights are the same.

I wish mine had the extra gallon....and I hope I got the updated ECU.

We got 30cm of snow yesterday so I'm taking tomorrow off to get the break-in process started.......hopefully the snow stays but the weather is calling for some above 0°C days coming up.

No, it doesn't mean that they are the same. It means that the part that came on the EB (0646) has been superceded by 0746, and if the part is replaced, 0746 the one to use. If they were the same, the part number would not have changed!

If you want to see which ECU that you have, just look at it. The part numbers are on top of the ECU. But if it's a WY EB, I can almost guarantee that you have the 2005 ECU, not the new one.

I'll have to check my ECU, but I think your right. I would assume I got a 2005 ECU.

I Got a call from the dealer. Arctic Cat said my WY has the 60/60 gearing and the sticker under the hood is incorrect. Dealer was going to get me an updated sticker. I guess I'll see tomorrow if my geared down CF is any different than what I remember from my test drives. I'm a little worried about top end (even though I'm not a top end guy)....the geared up one I drove was a 100-105 mph machine....hope mine isn't a 90-95 mph machine (might be a little too slow for me).

We'll I haven't had a chance to TOP it out, still breaking it in.... But I had it up to 75 mph and it was pulling like a banshee on fire, I can't imagine it not getting to 100, at least I hope it does!

Oh well if it dont. Mine ripped, so i was pleased with it. The handling surprised me more than anything, becuz i drove my dads 04 f7 last year and they have the same power, so the handling was a lot different than the firecat. It has better handling i should say. I also hit a few big bumps on it at 50 and it was like nothing was there, handled it like a champ.

I know this is an old post but if a crate says June 16, 2005 would you expect it to not be an EB????? popc1.gif
