I just purschased a set of hammer times at the Novi Snow show. They are the black steel ones. I noticed on their website that the only ones they offer are the billet ones. Should I be worried? Randy told me that the pins in these ones are rated for 30,000 lbs, and he reassured me that these were the new ones. And yes I know that other guys have had problems with these, but others have had success. I'm willing to take my chances... Thanks.

Thanks, but seriously...are the billet kind the ACTUAL new style or did I get scammed into buying left-over old styles?

I have the 3rd generation of Randy's weights the 2 speed weight kit on my XCR 800's clutch "with HTG go faster parts" just waiting to be played with and tuned also I have a few new BELTS hanging in the shop.. the adjustment holes in the weight are threaded. yes they are made from billet and the weight profile has changed abit as well. these new 2 speed weights / pin design are much better then the previous versions of the Hammertimes
Make sure you're sheave / belt clearance = no more than .020 with a new belt.
FYI with the 2 speed weights make sure you change you're belt often like every 1000 miles maybe even less but watch it closley.. due to the added belt squeeze the stock belts are good but these weights put a ton more squeeze on the belt. what really causes train wrecks is the belt blowing and the shreading belt catching the hammers of the weights while the clutch assembly is still spinning tearing everything to shreads.. so the weights are fine and they DO WORK GREAT, like I said watch belt life, change it often especially if you beating the hell out of it..

black billet? if that is anodized or coated, can't see it ever lasting on the shift surface, theory is great, just to much destruction.

If you saw the pics/stories of AFJs sled after the hammers blew up, you'd think twice about "taking your chances". Sure the new ones probably are stronger, but is it enough. The way the company handled the issue was pathetic at best.

I have to agree with PolarisNut, the way Supertorquer handled the issue was
less than desirable. and it does make a mess when things go KABOOM..
my explosion took out my clutch sheaves weights and hammers and blew the belt gard right off the chassis.. the weights I had were the hammertimes with the replacement
pin. and a belt that was goin into the 1000 mile range..
But it was the shreading belt that took the hammers out that caused the weights to disintergrate that took out the clutch
Watch belt life!! Get the feel for a belt thats ready to go.. and hope you are not WFO
when the belt does go..
Maybe even look into the belt that are meant for Real HI HP / Torqy sleds
like AAEN Performance has some CVT Pro belts rated for 200 and 300 HP Motors
90 - 100 $$ a belt.. or even try the Ultimax 2 Pro belts

Thanks for all the help guys...I will let you know what happens, if anything. Hopefully they will work well and not blow up. Also, hopefully they perform up to the standards they have been said to. Again, thanks for the help.

I've got new billet steel 2-speed's in my 05 600 S/B. 500 miles last year and no problems...yet. I love them, but they still make me nervous for some reason. BTW, my weights look nothing like yours, mine had a gold finish on both sections of the weight, plus my the moveable arm looks different as well. Maybe you've got a third generation of the weight, I dont know.
