My father and I just bought the 93 classic with 900 original miles that was for sale by user ZR600PostLake. The machine is in great condition. here are my questions.

1. Chain case oil. What should I replace it with? Is there a drain or should I remove the cover?

2. The hoses that run to the heat exchangers, Do they carry coolant? What coolant mixture should I use?

3. Studs, what should I get and how many? Not looking to go overboard, i just want some traction on icey trails.

4. 2up seat. I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find one. Where shoul I look?

5. I have noticed a lot of people play with the factory clutch with weights, springs. What would a decent trail set up be for this sled and does the cluctch have to be off to do this?

I think thats about it for now. I look foward to a response.

Here are some thoughts:

1. You will need to remove the chaincase cover to change the oil. Give everything a good clean and then close it up. I have always used Polaris' chaincase oil. You could determine the specs of it and then use similiar.

2. The hoses to the heat exchangers are the cooling system. There should be a small "Rad" cap under the hood. This is where you will want to add coolant. Use a mix of 50/50 water/antifreeze.

3. The built proof Fuji 488 makes about 85 hp. I would think 96 studs would be lots. That is 2 per row. I would only put them down the centre belt - improves track longevity. Check with the stud manufacturers for recommended length for the size lugs you have on the track.

4. You would want to look for what is called a "Seat Jack". I think they will fit on the old Indy's. http://www.industriesjack.com/1enprod2a.htm

5. I cannot help you with a sled specific set up. But, as a newbie I would say leave the clutches alone. As long as they have been well maintained I would not spend the $$ to make clutch changes.

red rocket has given you good ideas. the polaris chain case oil is fine but I use amsoil synthetic gear lube. ATF would work fine for a sled of that size as well. The 2 ups are getting harder to find. Seat jack is a good option because you can move it later if you like.

Thanks for the info. Thats too bad about 2ups not being around. Im not a fan of that add on seat. It looks cheap to me.

I am mechanicly good enough to work on the clutch. i have had sled in the past as well. I'll do some searching.
