So what is the track tension I should have on my sled. Also how do I make sure I have that. Isnt it like it should be an inch down when there is ten inches of force on it? I need to know because I put in a new track and skid and need to set everythign up proper.

Thanks, ill be doing this tomorow night so help is appreciated asap.

If you have the owner's manual it should give the spec. If you have no studs you can set it toward the loose end of the spec, which is probably around 1" to 1 1/4."

On mine I jack up the back. First align it side to side, looking through the windows at the end of the rails.

Once you get the track centered then adjust the tension. I put two five pound weights from an old weight lifting set on the center of the track - inside the suspension. Then adjust both sides equally to get the 1 1/4" hang in the center.
1 1/2" would also probably be fine. Run the sled for a few minutes, rev it to spin the track a few times. Recheck and readjust if needed.

The track should free spin a little after letting off the gas. If it stops right away or is very difficult to turn by hand, probably too tight. With a new belt and clutches in good shape, the track may even turn a bit by itself while idling with the back jacked up.

Make sure your have the tools with you when riding, just in case you feel it slipping (ratcheting) tighten each side equally until the ratcheting stops.

Doesnt this post say NO weight? I used the weight rule before... not with actual weights, just pull down slightly. Guess i should have used a fish scale or such.

I loosened it slightly halfway through the year with it seeming too tight. This fall im looking at it thinking it doesnt hang close to an 1". Then i noticed the front of the hyfax i put on last year is worn pretty good. Guess this was due to it being too tight. It spun fine (not by hand) but didnt slow the sled quickly.

Im trying the looser style this year. Keep just an inch as i do have studs though.

Well i set the alignment and tightening up correctly, but it seems that the tension was too much near the front tof the hi-fax. Back by the end of the track it hangs down 7/8 since it is a new track and will strecth slightly. How tight should the track be up against the slides up there, am I goin to have to thighten my straps?

dont worry about that. it will always be tight up there when the sled is off the ground.
