I would go with the one that has a steel hub, I went with HSP w/o a steel hub, they where a groove under the snap ring

I agree

Just installed a HSP with many people recommending it for its aggressive backshift.

The original helix (R12) had a very thin metal washer under the snap ring and i used this on the new helix as well. On my XLT I used an EPI clutch kit and they included some sort of hard plastic washer under the snap ring, i assume for the same reasons.

Thanks for the replies...
(The Hot Seat comes in a "Gold" version that has a steel hub just like the Dalton)

700EDGEd, How did the HSP work for you?
I don't want to get into all of the things leading up to my choice between the two helixs, but I have both helix brands located for the same price I just need to decide which one.

Thanks.

Hmm..my HSP was like a gold anodized or such. Didnt look at the hub to even see if it was steel though. Didnt look at the original one to see if it was steel either.

QUESTION: Anyone use buttons, like 1 set a season?? Never went through them so much in a sled. This year it wore part of the helix also at the top of the ramp.

Havent run the new setup yet in my sled. Probably wont have enough snow till Jan to really ride and try it out.

Are you using cheapo buttons from like DK, or Shade Tree? Are you running a very high rate spring? how many miles in a seson? the more aggressive the helix, the more they will wear. That EPI hard plastic ring, is meant to keep the rear of the aluminun helix from wearing.

Last year buttons where shade trees. Original ones were replaced at about 1200 miles. Back to the dealer this year for new buttons (Polaris). The clutches were stock up until right now.

The dealer just said a lot of throttle jockeying and jumping will do that. Just wondering what everyone else was getting out of buttons.

This year should be fun, all new clutch setup and geared down a bit. :div20:
