I picked up a used 2005 900 SB this spring at a good price. When I bought it, it didn't have a spare belt. When I went to put the spare in the stock holder, it rests against the pipe. This doesn't seem right. Anybody else have this problem? Got any suggestions for an alternative location?

Thats the right spot. I've had mine there for 800 miles and have yet to need it. Even though it touches the pipe it hasn't melted. Seemed like a bad set up when I first looked at mine too but I have had no issues.
Hey get the updates done and a little playing around with clutching and suspension set up, and you got your self a great sled. I have had great time with mine and not one of the issues.

I clipped my belt into the clip provided but pushed the majority of the belt towards an opening under the air intake. This way the belt doesn't touch the pipe at all. Let me know if this isn't clear and I can post a picture.

Madmac- glad to hear sitting on the pipe hasn't caused any damage. Mines at my dealer right now getting all the updates. What clutching work did you do? I'm also buying heavier torsion springs (.405's) since I'm a big guy (270). Any recommend suspsension setups? I like to ride it stock before I make any major changes. Did you stud yours? All my sleds up til now have been studded but I've heard the 1.25 track makes a big difference and I won't miss the studs.

Butsy- I know what you mean. I tried pushing mine under the air box as far as it would go but it still rests against the pipe in one small area. Maybe there's a difference from 2005 to 2006? If you can post a pick that would be great. I won't be able to look mine for another week or so when it gets back from the dealer.

Suspension setup I'm still playing with. I tried tightening the limiter strap and didn't like all that ski pressure. I then loosed the preload on the front shock on the skid. Like that allot better. I also have Simmons with Bergstrem 8in. triples points on the insides and 4in. on the out sides. I did stud my sled with I think 157? Can't remember It’s 3 in each row. I think studs are must if you ride trails at all. Clutching I have only played with the drive the driven seems setup pretty good. I put a 165/320 spring in it with 77g weights. It seems to just eat up the more weight with all the torque this thing has. I hope this helps give you a start I weigh 185 so I don't know how well this will work for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try it this season without studs and see what happens.

Thanks Butsy. I'll have to give mine a shot again.
