Full Version: quick clutch question

Just a quick question. I started my sled up today without the belt on and I hit the throttle a couple of times. It didn't rev it up to high and I didn't hold it to long, but I did see the clutch open up a little bit. I don't think the two halves touched together, or if it's even possible for that to happen. Just want to know if it's bad to run motor without the belt in place?

As long as you don't over rev it you should be ok. The clutch should move in and out. i_need_snow.gif
hugh
Never rev the motor without a belt.

The motor is self regulating. It will stop revving when it goes "off the pipe". Ever go watch a motoX race? They pin those bikes at the start before the gate drops.

Anyway, blowing the motor is not the problem. Making the clutch cycle back and forth is!!! The clutch will slam together and may crack and come apart. This could happen instantly or the crack could start out small and cause failure at a later time.

The BobCat is right.
