I was just wondering how many of you ride through the Franconia Notch area. I have hiked in there before and some of the scenery is awesome and it isnt too far from my house so I was just wondering how all of you like riding in that area and any tips about it you could give me. Thanks! :beerchug:

Great riding just north of there @ Twin Mountains. Gotta watch out for the road off of 93 (rt. 3.) That section of road is dangerous. I don't think they salt it because of the national park. Two years ago we saw enclosed trailer UPSIDEDOWN and last year driving home my trailer tried to pass my truck. The trailer fishtailed 4 or 5 times before knocking me across the road into the drainage ditch. Flat tire and crushed sheetmetal on my truck.
:banghead:

It was the first time out with my new ZL800 efi SS. Lucky for me I added extra tie-downs for the sleds. The only damage to the tailer was a dented clam shell cover.

Lots of riders/riding off rt. 3 and 302

Every weekend I am in Twin. If your ever run into a Viper with an American flag on the windsheild thats me.. Now it will be an Attak for this year... If you hit the notch at 8am you get fresh tracks... There are some stretchs in there that you can really get it going..

If your in the area and want to hook up for a ride let me know.. I can show you around all of twin and north..

I've been there a couple times. Maybe it was just the day I was riding but the bike trails can get a bit icy in the winter dunno.gif . Also, it's a zoo on the weekends boxen.gif

i park at the flume sometimes and ride north to twin. great scenery through there but speed limit is 25 while in the national forest area. on weekends its busy and loaded with cops so stick to the speed limit.

Never seen a cop on those trails.. Rail beds in Gorham have been the only place I ran into a cop...

I seen the boys about 5 times in weekends from the notch to Jefferson, and always after the bridge leaving the notch. The wife heading that way on her old sled.

I rode the notch once.....Stupidity at its best !!!

After reading every single trail report that said anything below twin was junk I got talked into riding out of there. The first what 5 miles or 10 ? was great .....you know right before you take that right up on to 11 ?

It went to shit and it sucked all the way till we hit twin. The worst part was knowing you had to ride back through all of the same crap.....I will never trust anyone who doesnt spend as much time as I do getting " All " of the trail reports.

That was in 04, didnt ride south of Groveton all last year.

But It really was Scenic....

Sorry for the rant !

Hello John, have that sled ready yet? I been there when that trail is like that. When Yami, Killerbee, Ron and I hit it on our last run on the season it was smooth, we raced there @ some good MPH, thru the twisty's- nice ski lifts on the corners. Also was smooth the two weekends before that too.
