I have an 03 f5 firecat snopro and was wondering if i should get picks, but if i jump it alot will it hurt it? or will they slow me down alot in the longrun? Please fill me in if you have one or know.

If you are worried about traction on ice get studs. 102 is fine. It's what I have on my 440 sno pro and F5. If you never ride on ice studs will not help on anything else so forget them. That 1.375 track will hook VERY well on anything but ice for you without studs. 102 studs will not effect top end hardly at all.

Studs are a SAFTEY item. Would you run your car without brakes? Guess what happens when you hit a sudden patch of ice around that blind turn. I think on top end you only loose about 5mph tops. That 5mph isn't worth that to me. ooh4.gif

we do have a few icy corners where i ride occasionally. its more of a saftly matter for me that anything. i would buy them just for that fact. better safe than sorry.

Stud it! Definately a plus as far as safety goes. Even as few as 102 studs is a plus! firecats_rule.gif i_need_snow.gif

Get there a hell of alot quicker from a stop, that's for damn sure! grinning-smiley-023.gif grin.png I really haven't noticed any major slow down, it will be less than that from the 1" > 1.375" track though, I would say like 1-2 mph if at all. Everyone has them, so it's equal again..
It's just not on the ice, the trail is 10x better. The back end follows the skis perfectly, no "slushy" feeling in the back when it is freshly groomed, braking on the snow is highly reduced as well... when you are ripping studless, you can't stop for squat if you need to, it's alot safer like everyone has said. You can ride alot faster though, and be in the same control, if not better, with them than without them. I'd like to see someone go "fast" without.

I'm pro-studs eh?
