I thought you guys might appreciate a couple pics I have taken from riding the trails around my home... I have been riding the trails around Cranberry Lake/Star Lake/Childwold/Tupper Lake for about 20 years now (started when I was 9). and I have rarely taken pictures of my rides.. I have logged on probably around 50,000-60,000 miles on sleds and have only a hand full of pics to remember it by. So this year I started taking a camera with me on some of my rides...

Here is a couple pics from the top of the world. This is Little Blue Mtn. We stop here for a little stretch while riding all the time, its a great place to stop and relax, the view is breath taking

Here is a pic from late December when a buddy and I went for a 220 mile ride from Star Lake to Malone and back. This is Charlies Inn in Lake Clear NY.

Here is my 4 year old son Nicholas on his first time driving the 120 that I got for him and his sister last christmas, they love it.. You can tell from the snow on the side of the hood, his sister just flipped it on its side, but I told them "dont worry about it, thats what its for, to learn.." They both love to ride

Here is my daughter Mackenzie riding the sled around, she is 6 so she got to ride it last year, this is her second year and I had to order a governor over ride kit to make it a little faster for her..

This is just my apex sitting along side the trail while I was taking a leg stretcher... What a nice looking sled.. Love it!!

And heres another.. In this pic I was going about 95mph. It looks like I was trying to lift the skis but I was actually sitting on the gas tank trying not to let the front end come up too high... I love this sled!!

I know, we got hit hard by the wind and rain. I think we still have decent base especailly on the trails but its a hell of alot thinner than it was.. We got about 5 inches of fresh stuff today but we still need alot more.. The best riding of the year around here was between December 15th and January 15th IMO.. I put on some damn good miles early in the season..

Hey, I'm from the Paul Smiths/Rainbow Lake Area. Love the view from Little Blue Mtn. Was wondering where its located or on what trail? Just got back into riding and would appreciate the info. Thanks and nice pics

Nick - Great pics of Little Blue! I must have hundreds of pictures from up there over the past 15 years. A really beautiful view. Thanks for the snow updates.

I know all the trails by names that no one but me and my riding buddies understand. I had to get out a map to find it but from what I can see yu take trail 8 to trail 83, off 83 will be a little one lane trail that goes up the hill, If you don't have studs just keep your speed up so you don't spin and its easy to go right up, alot of people try to throttle it and spin like crazy, that spins all the snow off the ice and then its nothing but glare ice for the next guy coming up the hill. It is an easy trail, just keep a steady spead. The view is incredible.

Nice Pics Nick. Plan on taking a trip up Little Blue next week. I went through that intersection 2 years ago and hardly recognized it. Seems like the excavated the hill at the trooper shed ? Anybody selling chilli dogs there again this year ?

The reason I asked about Twin Lakes, my folks know a guy that bartends there part time and he works at the hospital. He opened the place Thanksgiving night so he could watch the Giants game on Satelite. I think I was conceived there when my folks own the place years ago, before they sold it (pre Margret).

Thanks a lot, Going to have to give it a try. When I look on my 2010 map it shows s83 near Platsburg? I thought it may have been somewhere else lol. Maybe I'l try this weekend to get there. Depends on the snow that way. I live next to the power lines up here and the trails seem to be decent here but haven't had a chance to get out this week.

They did do a bunch of logging up there a few years back, there was a season that we couldn't go up there. Its shaped different now but its all still in the same general area. Thats cool that your folks used to own twin lakes. Its still a great place to go, foods always good, best wings ya an get.

The guy you are talking about is Ian. He's almost always at twin lakes, weather he's working or not. I work with him at the hospital. Next time you're in the area pm me we'll meet up for a beer.

Ya if ya make it up this way just ask someone when you get close, most people can point ya in the right direction if you need it. Its pretty easy to find once you are up here. On sunny days its nice to have a fire and cook come hot dogs and just hang out for a little while. We go up alot.

Thank you, We really were doing this safely when we took those high speed pictures, yes we were driving fast but we were sure no one else was on this section of trail when we used it for the photos and we were very familiar with the terrain. No one even came around when we were doing this so we never even held anyone up. Its a section, way back in the woods that only sees 6 sleds on a Saturday, this was Tuesday we were probably the only sleds that went through there that day.

Nice pictures especially little blue mountain, thanks for sharing. Appreciate the directions and I hope to check it out in person soon. Think I found it on a map, this is just north of Cranberry Lake, correct.
