Thats because you never got to the good powder...once u get off trail and go north off trail 17 the powder contidions get better and better. I agree that this year the powder condtions right around trail 17 hasnt been great.

Miketoth....you can spend days up there exploring new rds and trails. Best thing to do is have a gps that you can use along with a mapsource program. You can explore rds and when u get back home uplaod your tracks and see where you went. We put on about 1500 - 2000 miles up there a year and it took us a few yrs to get to the point where we know we are going. Have you been out to Summit Depot, Atkinson Tower or out towards Biencourt Quebec yet. We are going up sunday and monday for another ride. If you think the riding is good up there this year...you are in for a real treat when they actually have a good year!!! Maybe we can hook up for a ride sometime...we generally go up every 2 weeks for 2 or 3 days.

Have you left from the Quality Inn in Edmunston yet?
How are the conditions in Edmunston?
BTW, if you see a GPS on you way to Biencourt......I lost one last year! LOL you will never find it.
Couple buddies with me said " don't they find themselves??
The whole province needs snow!
I just heard that they canceled Cains's Quest because of the conditions! Now you know things are bad!!

Trail conditions in the Campbellton area took a hit this week with the mild weather and are not in the best of shape. #22 from Island Lake to Balmoral was groomed in the last 12-24hrs according the GPS tracking system and Balmoral to SugarLoaf Park usually groomed on Friday and should not be bad. Conditions in the park are poor due to low snow conditions and a down groomer. Both trails to the hotels in Campbellton are still passable but the#17 through Atholville, Tide head to the Restigouche club house is rough and with little snow to work with won't get a pass with the groomer this week. #17 from the club house on up the railbed to Mennival was groomed yesterday but in need of more snow.
#22 through St Arthur and #259 were groomed this week and are in good shape because there is way more snow up there on higher ground......

Well the groomer made a pass from the clubhouse down the #17 to SugarLoaf park yesterday but this section of trail is still in poor shape. The trails to both hotels are passable with some sections of bare ground on the down town trail so use caution in these areas....

We ran 525 kms Wed. from Bathurst to Kedgwick/St. Quentin around the loop.

22 north groomed flat and fast.

259 and 250 were also freshly groomed and in great shape.

Followed a groomer down 17 half-way and still lots of snow there, for now.

19 was also in great shape for the most part.

Thanks to those that maintain these trails.

Trails in the St Arthur club area were 100% all winter nice and wide and well maintained. Big thumbs up to Steve..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bowdown.gif)

If there was an award for "The Most Improved Trail System" Club Des Montagne in St Arthur would get it hands down. For a small club they did an awesome job this winter as anyone that traveled the #259, #250 or the #22 down to the park can attest to. They had heavy traffic all winter as everyone from the Campbellton area traveled that way to get out to the #22 because of the poor conditions to the east(22) and west(17) due to lack of snow....

Is there a restaurant or tavern somewhere along the 22 that you can still reach mid-week above 259?

We found the Shell gas station in St. Arthur. Coming back up next week and would like to visit the area again and go further if snow cover permits. Trails were GREAT!

Nothing back there you would have to come down into Atholville closest being the Soup and Sandwich place on the trail to the Quality Inn. On weekends the clubhouse is open.
Yes that Shell is a very popular place this winter since they routed the main trail right through the door yard. Anyone that leaves town now gas there.

On another note gas is no longer available in Tide Head at the station where the trail ran through the yard. Only gas in Campbellton along the trail are the Ultramars at the either end of town....

Hmmm Going up next week. I recall 1 Ultramar over by the Comfort Inn but where is the other?
We will be coming in Fr Bathurst staying at HoJo's. Leaving the next day(Sat) and heading for Edmunston via Moose Valley.Where is the second Ultramar?Near Tide head end of town?

Hope we can make the loop.

Thanks

got back from Moose Valley yesturday and trail 12 south of club du nord towards days inn in st basile doesnt have much snow on it. I would say by the weekend if they dont get any snow it will be hard pickens in certain sections. The powerline just north of days inn had a few spots where it was right down to the dirt. Still lots of snow however out back of edmundston and Moose Valley have there trails in amazing shape!!!

Went to town in the truck after supper to check and the trail to the down town( HoJo's) is in such bad shape it should be considered closed. The trail to the Quality Inn is still passable with bare spots. The best way in and out of Campbellton is by way of the #259, #22 to Sugarloaf park.

#17 through Atholville and Tide Head up to the Restigouche club is very poor and on up the railbed limited snow cover and icy. With no snow in the forecast it won't be any better for the weekend........

With the warm weather and rain in the forecast for the end of the week and into the weekend the trail in Campbellton to the Quality inn will be finished and should be considered closed. The trail to the down town (HoJo's) has been closed since last week. #17 to the west Atholville, Tide Head to the club house is poor to bad and should be considered closed.

There is still lots of snow on #259 and the #250 in At Arthur through the Club des Montagne and out to the railbed. The railbed #17 from there up to Kedgwick is still good. Kedgwick to Kedgwick river is poor with a lot of bare ground and just beyond the river the trail is plowed cutting off the loop to MooseValley......

Sugarloaf Park last weekend....
