I have been reading this posts for awhile, but I need to add you for myself finally. I have a 2001 xcr120 for my son. Bought it used and it seems SLOW? I understand he has it on grass, but it is all stock and barely moves. My son is only about 30lbs. I am thinking this thing is either screwed-up in the throttle area(governer) or just needs some modifications to it. Can anyone tell me what these should do stock? hould a five year old be able to at least ride this thing around on the grass? If I decide to change gears; where do I start? I am afraid if I raise the top speed I am going to lose the bottom end. This thing already has no bottom end! HELP!!
As I have said in many other posts I do not know much about the Polaris 120's.
That being said, here are some of the things I would check for:
There is usually a speed adjustment screw on the throttle stop at the carb take a look there see if you can adjust it out.
The throttle cable is tight the sleeve may be moving when the throttle is pulled.
If your fuel filter is clogged.
If the airbox has any obstructions (mouse nests)
Exhaust for any obstructions.
Something limiting the swing of the throttle.
Track to tight.
Brake band hanging or misadjusted.
There are a few things to start with.
