I would just like to know how many different company's offer sprockets drive, driven, and idler... aluminum, or steel direct replacement or a step up
I need to replace all of them.
Thanks,

Rec Motorsports has the best chain tensioner, Rec Motors and Sport Tech has the quick change hub and rear sprockets.

Hey Shawno, are those sleds in your video all stock or are their any mods done to them?? I showed my 8 year old the video and she wants to race her XC 120. I was just wondering what rules RMR has for the 120cc class.

Ron, I am in the process of trying to talk my 8yrd old into racing this year, I might just see you at the races. Sorry for hijacking your thread.

They are stock. My boys race the Stock Novice, Stock, and Improved classes. (Improved class is mostly for more seat time but they do pretty well)
You just have to tweak the snot out of them, I still have more I can do and keep them stock.

I will list the items that are not stock (both sleds are exactly the same to prevent problems)
Rec Motor Gov spring
Rec Motor adjustable main jet
Rec Motors Chain Adjuster
Sport Tech rear sprockets and quick change hub
Mini Tach

If I can think of more I will add to the list, but I think thats it.

RMR's website has a PDF of the Rules. Check for updates though I know there were going to be some new enforcement's of the rules, last year there was some cheating going on. (a good way to teach values to your kids huh?)
For the most part everybody plays by the rules, and its a ton of fun.

Thanks,
I'm looking for steel replacement sprockets if there is such a thing. I read somewhere that the Aluminum ones require maintenance more often, I'm looking to put steel back on it if at all possible.
I have started to look into making my own hub and quick change set up out of steel if I cant find one..

As far as Snowman-F7 high jacking this thread.. go nuts it's good just to see someone in this forum. been a little dead around here!

Go with the aluminum the weight difference is unreal take the old hub/sprocket off and feel the weight.
32 hours on one set of aluminum rear sprockets as of now and they still look good.
Hub is $48.00 gears are $44.00 each. You would be hard pressed to make one that is that light for that much out of steel.

Shawno
Do you run with or without the velocity stack, or did you leave on the stock air box, the reason I ask is that I just installed the recmotor Power intake kit and put on the velocity stack does this make a noticable difference or should I stick to the airbox.
Also I went with a 34 tooth sprocket assy. My daughter runs an XCR 120. she doesnt race she just wants more speed so she can keep up with us on our property.
Thanks for all the informational posts you have posted.

No velocity stack in either sled.
I don't know much about the velocity stack since we run stock class. From what I am told it does make a noticable difference at the mid to upper RPM I would assume its a lot like the old tunnel ram manifolds for cars.
You should put some type of air filter on though if you are not racing, the amount of dust thats generated by the clutch shoes is nasty. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yucky.gif)
The only way to really know how the motor is performing is to try it and since kids are not that great at feed back on performance its up to you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinning-smiley-023.gif)

I have the velocity stack on my sons '06 - seems to help with the throttle response.............plus there is no bogging when the thing hits an incline.......been on for over a year and no problem with it.

Good info thanks; I talked to Scott at Recmotors and he said as long as my kids run the sled in winter (snow) only their wo'nt be a problem, he said running in grass is when you want reinstall the stock airbox. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.png)
