need help changing a clutch in a 1999 ZL 600

Posted 01-11-2009 at 04:13 PM by ScottyBu (ScottyBu's Blog)

Can anyone tell me how to change a clutch in my 1999 Arctic Cat ZL 600? I have no instructions to install the new one I bought. Also, I can't even get the old one out before I put the new one in. Please help me if you can on taking out the old one and putting in the new one. We've had a record 6 feet of snow and I can't use my snowmobile. Thanks! ScottyBu

Belt after belt after belt after belt

My name is chris and i'm new to this site.. I bought my 02 edge x 700 at the begining of this year with 328 miles, by 400 miles i had a blown belt. My friends took a look and noticed that there was alot of movement on the driven clutch. It could slide back and forth maybe 3/8 of an inch on the jakshaft. He thought this was the problem, so i removed a few washers off the end. Stupid choice. I think they are there to self align the clutch. How many washers should be there, i forgot if i put the ones...

Well it looks like our club is off to a slightly earlier than normal start, thanks to the early snow and cold weather. This time of year is always challenging because I want to spend time with family and friends, but I also want to make sure that we get our trails signed and groomed as soon as possible. Without our volunteers, this would not be possible.
As of today, our trails north of Mars Sand Hills and south to Tyndall and east to #12 have been groomed once and basic signage is in place....

Purchased from Twin Lakes Marine

Fuel Map was redone twice. Original had a great big flutter around 6000 rpm especially when you stopped accelerating and just tried to maintain speed, would drop 1000 rpm. Remap made things worse, it was this way for the entire TOYSAR trip. Then found out they put the wrong map in. 3rd map is a charm.

Had trouble with the belly pan. Seems that if the hood was not closed properly leaving the tab on the belly pan out snow would freeze...
