Default Oil tank capacity

OK, so whenever I buy a new sled I like to mark where each quart is on the tank just for reference. The manual says the oil tank holds 3.8 quarts and not to fill up into the filler neck. So I remove all the oil and start adding one quart at a time and marking the location. I was able to add 4 quarts and it's about right at the recommended fill point. Just curious if anyone else has done this?|Why not just say it holds 4 qts?

Also, I would have assumed that there would be exactly one quart left at the add line but when I added the first quart it was actually below the line. Does anyone know if the add line signifies a documented amount left?

Maybe dumb questions but I'm a little OCD, LOL!

From November of 2014 when I got my AXYS. Maybe it will help you.

The low sensor is real touchy to. Get a on a good incline and it lights up and there is clearly a bunch of oil still in there.

Yeah, that's exactly what mine looks like, so I'm not going insane. So it really can hold a full gallon if the tank is empty without actually over-filling it.

Thanks for the pic!

Maybe your quart and gallon oil bottles are cheating you...?

I did this and wasn't able to get 4 qrts on the original tank and the warranty replacement. 3.8 qrts for both.

My above marks were made after I drained the oem tank. Opened a fresh qt of ves. Noting where it was filled to. The first mark was from that newly opened qt, and each mark was made after refilling the qt bottle to the original point and dumping it in the tank each time.

I marked mine too after my first ride just to make sure I was burning oil.

That's weird. I drained the tank out and added oil to a quart measuring cup, then poured it into the tank, one quart at a time. You can see in my pic where the 4th quart is with some space to spare, although they don't want you to fill into that area per the manual. I can't believe there are different results.
